Knocking noise from engine - maybe big end bearings?

Hi i recently tried to see how fast my new s13 could go (in terms of top speed) and the next time i went to drive it, there was a knocking sound starting to develop. It doesnt knock on straight idle but holding a little amount of pressure on pedal and between 2 and 3k revs there is a tapping/knocking sound coming from right inside engine. The engine still runs and it drives as i drove it back home after knocking sound started to develop. After listening to some YouTube clips and doing some research i think i might be the big end bearings. Does this sound about right or are there any other things it could be?
Any help or advice appreciated, cheers

It could, if you're extremely lucky, just be a sticky hydraulic tappet. But that sort of optimism usually starts to dry up once the rod comes through the block

    It's classic big end symptoms.
