    My details

How long do you keep peoples details?
I have had my car insured with you in the past and am looking at putting her back on the road. The trouble is, Im worried about trying to remember exactly what I have done to it in my 10 years of ownership
If you still have my details it would be a huge help as I could go through the list and work out what is still on it, what has been removed and what has been added.

Could also be looking at moving my Merc to you if we can strike a good deal

Oh, and also, how does no claims discount work on multiple cars? I have mine on the Merc at the moment, can it be used on both if I do both with you?

    Hi,

best bet would be to drop me a PM with your surname, postcode and vehicle registration number and we can go from there.

We can look to 'mirror' the NCB over the second vehicle.

    Thanks

That didn't go too well then
Sam was very helpful and friendly but that quote was a bit silly.

Why is it with a quick search that I find people on here with higher spec cars, shorter no claims and points on their licence paying pretty much half what I have been quoted

Feeling really disheartened at the moment, I may have just been priced out of my SX

The fact you apparently live in "shit creek" may not help.
A friend of mine has just moved 2 miles but he's moved from a Leicestershire to Northamptonshire postcode and his insurance has went up about £400. It's still a sleepy little village that nobody's heard of but the rest of the postcode is a shit hole. The postcode he's currently in covers about 8 miles the previous one was just for the village he was in. It's a lot of money considering its only 2 miles.

I understand the whole postcode thing. The nearest city to me varies a LOT depending on your postcode.

Its the fact that I can insure my Merc at the same address for 1/6 of the price that I dont understand

That is a bit weird then. My sx forged, kitted, caged 400bhp with agreed value £7k is £650. My 06 slk is worth £12k and is £400 which i think is pretty good. Unless the merc is a clapped out 20 year out thing worth nothing, which im guessing it isnt, then id be just as confused.

    Boom, there you go.....
Higher spec, higher value car than mine, cheaper to insure....WTF??

And by the way, I am not 17 and I dont have 11 points on my license.
Im well into the age bracket that isnt a problem and my license is clean.
I dont live next to a pikey site......

I cant even be arsed to continue typing, I really am considering selling up, its just beyond a joke now

Totally fed up with it all now

    Hi,

comparing your risk against another risk doesn't really work, almost every question you are asked at quotation stage can and will effect the price you pay. No two risks are identical.

Having said that and having looked at your quotation details, I feel the price IS on the high side.

I am happy to refer this quotation back to our underwriters if you wish, feel free to PM me.

    Thanks

Got a FAR more sensible quote elsewhere

Thanks and feel free to check back at any time. We're confident about our rates and service but we cannot price the best price each and every time.

    Kind regards

Well, that was a somewhat bumpy ride

Got quoted by another company but they would not insure me without a valid MOT This left me in slightly tricky situation as I could not get the car to an MOT test station without insurance

So, I get a call from Sam at Sky today and not only has he nearly matched the quote (1 whole pound more expensive) but I will be insured to drive it to the MOT station

Sky have turned out to be flippin' amazing

Can't thank you enough Sam and Sky

I shall go to Japfest afterall

I guess it's just a shame the awesome service didn't mean quoting you decently in the first place it's one thing I don't miss about having a modified performance car and having to ring around.

Good news getting it sorted in time for Japfest though

But for how long??? That's the real question?

Glad you got it sorted mate, its a pain in the arse having to sort it out, last year I think I spent about 6 hours constantly ringing round getting quotes.
