I don't think John is having a go at anyone in perticular. Nor is he having a go at BMW's or any cheap drift cars. Some of the best drivers out there are in BMW's and volvo's. But it's probably true that if you arrive with a trailer and a £300 banger you drive diferently to how you would in a daily driver that you have spent a lot of time and money on.
Recently I've been looing for a jumanji car. If I find one I will drive it like I stole it with zero concern about crashing. This is what John is worried about. Possibly a little over concerned.
Back to the point of drifting past statinary cars. If there is no rule against it you leave it open to all kinds of madness. Someone stopped on a corner and other cars using him as a clipping point, initating flat out from half way down the straight. Why not? there are no rules to say otherwise.

The rules are use your common sense regarding the situation. Hence gentleman's agreement. Its an agreement between the drivers. Not hard and fast rule, those are set by Crail. If the person who is being drifted round is annoyed at it, tell Kev or I and we can speak to the driver regarding it and get him to cool his jets.

Overcomplicating these days with rules should be avoided imo, taking away the relaxed nature of them would be ruining what makes them so good. As for banning cheap BMWs, please don't, i'm hoping to get back out there soon in an E46. Call it Stockholm Syndrome
