I didn't really bother this year, just stuck some plants outside that I overwintered on the windowsill but the leaves and chilies are very small and stunted.

Will have a proper garden next year and planning to get a greenhouse for chilies and tomatoes.

Well the plan this year is to harvest the chillis and for most get the seeds.

Then I was going to suggest a seed bank. With good known working seeds in the uk.
I know a couple of guys are up for it already. I know there will be a bit of a cross over with the most common plants but could be worth it

Those nagas are looking very healthy, well done.

Judging pot size, if you leave them in that, I would expect only 2-5 decent fruit per plant.

Have a talked about my watering torture before on here?

I managed to produce some stupid nagas by feeding them tomorite in water once every couple of weeks and when the flowers pollonated and you could see the fruit forming behind, I starved the bejesus out of it, to the point of dropping and wilting, only then giving it water. Once the peppers were coming through, my water schedule would be something like once every 5-7 days depending on how they looked. My theory is that when starved all nutrients go into the peppers and my hottest and most flavourable batches have all come from starved plants.

I recommend people try it on a single plant and see what you get. Worst that happens is that you leave it too long and that single plant doesnt make it.

I'm resurrecting this thread. I've got a load of Jalapenos growing outside this year with some Red Savina Habanero. Next year I'm going to try grow some Carolina Reaper and some Scorpion Chillies from seed.

I have Zimbabwe Blacks, Cayenne (hot) and a hot jalapeno.

The Cayennes are easily my favourite. Really good yield and useful. Hot but not too much and tasty. I have about 6 of those going. They are worth drying and using throughout the year.

I grew a Naga Fire flame last year. Completely ruined anyone who tried it.

Tried the Scorpions, didn't think much to be honest.

I've tried a few things over the years but the best i have found is just put them in a tupper ware tub, basket, bowl etc, no lid, piece of kitchen roll on the bottom and in a dryer part of the kitchen and just leave them.

How do you keep the snails and slugs away? They seem to love the Habanero plant

Incidentally, you aren't allowed to take Chillies out of Mexico. I have a friend over there at the moment and he said it is a big no no. Drugs yes, chillies no

I have just started growing some. I’ve moved them into larger pots for outside as they are starting to gain height and fruit. Plans are to shift them to the greenhouse, when built.
Outside is just to unpredictable in Cumbria. One day, out they come, next day checking the weather to see if it’ll be too cold and kill them. It’s tense...

    What’s the thoughts?
Open to all with tried and tested plants etc?

Couple of methods the old man uses is a cut a square of roofing felt 6" x 6". Then cut a line to the centre and place around the base of the plant or sprinkle a circle of ash around the base of the plant.

Plants that start in green houses or conservatory needed to be hardened off when young (6") before being put outside. Put them outside in a sheltered spot. for a few hours everyday before bringing them inside again. Makes the stems stronger for when they go outside proper.

I got a major problem with green fly in my conservatory. Put them outside and natures got rid of them. worth bearing in mind for a greenhouse. Now they are back inside because of the weather is too unpredictable.

That is where I get mine from. If they are older than a year i find they are unlikely to germinate. They are fickle plants to germinate. Stick 5 seeds in each hole and see what which one is the strongest. bin or give away the rest.
