Settling an arguement TS50 or DT50

I am at a friends house and we are discussing the two bikes we used to ride 'off road' when we were 16. Some say the Suzuki TS50 was best, others the Yamaha DT50.

Please help settle the arguement. I used to like the TS50 but only really as it had a tachometer where the DT did not, also the looks were more pleasing. Others say the DT because the engine was better and more 'tuning' basis. I just remember having a great laugh on both but now we are all at logger heads, childish I know.

Any help settling this would be appreciated.

    Easy ! TS250.....Oh, you mean a 'ped

I was ripping round fields on a TS250 with my mate riding shotgun....literallly. Sitting backwards trying to shoot rabbits with a 4-10 bore shotgun.

Mopeds don't make good field bikes IMO.

We asked the girls and one likes the DT the other two the TS due to the tacho. Guess we not going to win here. He still has his DT unless his dad sold it. We may just have to go to his parents and see.

Ken why did you like your DT over the TS?

Deffo the DT, that's what all the cool kids had. My mates ts was slow as sin in standard form, something to do with the power valve I think. I had a mbx 50 for a touch of exclusivity

Ah , mine was a 1980, preferred it over the TS as it was easy to derestrict, just a thinner head gasket, change of cogs, fettled exhaust and playing around with the reed valve and it would do 65mph with a the wind behind you, I preferred the look to

Drum brakes FTW! Air cooled FTW!!

I just miss out too, G40 VMF was my plate. First motorised road vehicle I owned

Anyone else have their engine seize up at 60mph on a warm day? Puts a nice flat spot on your back tyre and brown one in your pants Then you have to wait by the side of the road for it to cool and un-seize, PMSL

Err no. This was when we were kids so in the 70s. It was probably a 72-73 model something like that. It was my mates bike.

I had a Honda SL125 that was good but not as laugh out loud as the 2-stroke TS. The TS had a mental powerband that was nothing-nothing-nothing-MUD EVERYWHERE !!!

TS all the way, looked like a proper crosser. I remember beating a DT50 in a race down the high street, he was gutted as I was running while he was riding
