melted a plug the first time chris, second time the piston was destroyed as well as the bore. it would take a rebore to 87 im sure it could be saved mate. but yeah ive always wanted to build one of these so it will make a good winter project

What plugs were you running?coppers or iridiums? This is always my fear that the plug tip will melt and bounce around the cylinder. Feel your pain you've not had much look with the car this year.it will all be worth it though when it's built with forged parts and the vvl head for mega powerz

today my head arrived, ive sold my old turbo setup and some other parts that wont be used so build the block up is the first priority now.

size of the ports on these compared with the DET's

That's the vet gasket with the det head I take it? I keep getting bad thoughts about a v8 swap for mine

yep the ve gasket over the det port.

yours is still working chris! i hate that this is going to take a bit of time and i wont get to drive it. an engine swap would be fine as long as you gather all the parts you need to complete it before you actually put the car off the road or it just draggs on and on, and the car just starts to get in the way.

Want to take the engine out to sort the bay so two birds one stone It's a long way off though tbf.

The vet head is such a better design and absolutely screams. No more worries with rockers too

Got myself a new blower for the old car, also stripped and washed the engine bay to give it a respray, just doing it black again to tidy it up

Still waiting on parts from Taarks, came from Australia in 2 days, then sat in Coventry for 2 weeks in customs, now its sat in Glasgow for 3 days. unreal

This is going to be rad!

Wish I could of afforded a VE head for my SR22, maybe one day when I get to Oz, seems a bit more of a common place over there lol.

Will be keeping an eye on this.

After all the moaning, my parcel turned up today so i got a SR20VE oil pump, the waterneck, the oil drain block, timing pin relocator, and the oil block.

ill get the other parts as i need them.

and this is the only difference between the two pumps, as far as fitting anyway

the head wasn't too expensive its all the parts to make it work that add up quite quickly.

Me too, getting hold of the head was the worst part, i searched for a while and ended up buying this from California and having it shipped here. There was a place in Ireland that was willing to build me one, but not to supply the parts. West Coast Perfomance

I was just going to run the ones in it mate, 20ve ones the mildest ones I think. I was told to run N1 s I'd need a huge turbo because of the overlap, I'll stick with these and see how it goes. I'm hoping I won't need much more after this.

Got my Block and Crank back from machining, Going to order ARP main and head studs, SR20VET pistons and rods, new bearings, also have a exhaust manifold sorted now so its starting to come together.

Big ends on the crank got a polish, Mains had to go .25 oversize

Couldn't resist Fitting a couple of parts.
