is a banana engine an interference engine?

If the belt goes is the engine dead? I'm on my phone and have bad signal so can't Google it.

It doesn't matter if it's an interference engine or not, banana conrods are bent anyway.

i like the way you guys jump straight in with the ridicule

i figured a person who knows about these things would be straight in with a deffinate answer as opposed to a guess,i had tried to look on google but was in a moving car at the time and had really bad coverage.it was actually a totally standard prefacelift!!

i was after buying a mk5 transit recovery truck but it had just snapped its belt and i wanted to know if i could just chuck another one on or if i had to get a new engine for it.

If you'd said what it was a Transit engine I could have checked on Autodata at work for you.

we were on our way to look at it then the guy got called out on a job so i arranged to meet him en route, then he said the belt had snapped. so i asked him how much he wanted for it with a duff engine, then he said his mechanic says its non interference so they can get away with just putting a new belt on.
he didnt want to sell it spare or repairs as he would loose to much money so i said to give me a call if/when he had it fixed.

my mate reckons he was just messing us around but i told him over the phone i was happy with the price and his description so if it was as described when we arrive we would have handed over the foldings and driven it home so i cant see what would be in it for him messing me around!!!

this is actually the second one ive tried to buy this week, the first guy i was texting on the sunday evening and had arranged to give him a call on monday morning as it was late then i called him a few times but he hung up on me/let it go to answer phone so i left him a voice mail.

i just dont see what a seller is set to gain by messing buyers around..

Buying or selling a car is a complete nightmare these days, what's happened to everybody? Everyone's after an unfair bargain or ripping people off - whatever happened to being honest about the car? The vast vast vast majority of cars I've gone to see haven't been as described, what is the point?

Non-interference diesel engine in a transit??? I'm very sceptical on that one.

I got ten quid that says the engine's mush and he's trying to mug you off.

It wasn't as described, simple as that. He probably didn't think you were serious
