sr20det thrust washers ? where do i get them ?

    Hi ,
My nissan silvia s14 sr20det has decided to break ( again ) i have been told by o local garage that it could be the thrust washers on the crank ( this sounded very expensive ) he then showed me if you were to push on the clutch / flywheel that it moved + you could feel movement at the front of the engine has any one ever had this problem ?

    many thanks

This is called crank end float. Have they measured it? There's spec of what range it should be in the service manual.

The no.3 main bearing has the thrust bearing as a part of it.

    service manual says 4-10 thou.

Its barely enough to see, you should just be able to feel it by hand. If you can see it move say half a mm then you know your thrust washers are knackered. To check it properly you need a dial test indicator on a mag base (oh actually I think you need an M8 stem instead cos nothing is magnetic on SR's )

I had this happen and it required a new crank as well as bearings...
