Hey guys, so this is now a new very shortened version of my build thread after photobucket took a dump on everybody by changing it's hosting rights
so here goes, lets wind the clock back 4-5 years at the begining of basically a nut and bolt rebuild haha

got bored so decided to do a new engine build since i had a fully sorted chassis that was very capable of handling more power
bought a load of new parts for the build, going 1.5jz so a 2jz block and 1jz head

so i had bought a 2jz ge block, had it machined to take oil squirters and turbo oil feed, i sent my block to a motorsport company in dundee scotland
unfortuantely i wasn't to know how bad i'd end up
i wanted a new set of pistons in the block and bearings so the compression ratio would be right+ refreshed and since i don't have engine building precision tools i thought i could turst them
my block came back with deep scoring in the bores in some cylinders, weather that was there before i don't know but it should have not been returned to me like this from an engine builder
deep enough that my finger nails would go inside and catch
when removing the bearing caps to try remove the pistons to see if i could hone them out going on advice from other engine builders i'd realised some of the 'new' bearings were also damaged
on an engine only turned over by hand a few times

went for a drift day with just stock 1 bar of boost which is wastegate spring pressures, boost controller off

had so much fun, went down with my mate stevie to crail and we spend the day chasing eachother
i was rusty as that was my first time drifting in 2 years with a whole new engine/box setup and a new alignment and anti roll bar setup
completely different car to drive, it's 100x easier and such an animal now, the boost comes on so hard so fast too

back to dyno and had boost turned up
158 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr
157 by Jonny McIntosh, on Flickr
the car was mapped up to 2 bar of boost and made something over 600hp, unsure on exact figure due to wheel spin but it's insane.
so i need to go back with some 265 r888's now to make sure i can get grip and we will do a proper power run
as for now, the car insurance was set to expire the day after mapping so it's just been put into storage since august, i've had other priorities to sort out just now
it'll get back out in 2018 and insured and ready to rock around march/april time
but for now it's just needing some overfenders on the rear since the 1/4 was reshaped by stevie's s14 during a drift session and it'll mean i can run stupidly wide rear wheels
also dumping these in here for my own reference incase i'm ever stuck without them, boost controller references
p1: wastegate pressure no boost controller
p2 - 1.2 bar, 40 gain =25
p3 - 1.5 bar = 50 gain =25
p4 - 1.8 bar = 60 gain =25
p5 - 2 bar = 65 gain =25

HOLY MOLY, fair play for uploading all the pictures again!!
Just went through the lot, thats amazing! some amount of work/parts and money that went into this car, thats pretty cool!!!

well 2 years on now and it's going to get pulled out the garage, family life and supra life has taken over, I've had 3 supras in the time this car has sat in my garage
I have been saving up money and been buying things along the way over the last 2 years
over the next few weeks it'll be moved so I can work on it, plans are:
-4 inch downpipe somehow
-4 inch oval floor system
-stock intake manifold back on with idle control and new gaskets
-new I/c pipework for manifold change
-sparco wrap around fixed bucket seat and bride rail, recaros coming out and stock passenger seat back in for moving tyres to drift days etc
-hydro handbrake going on with new brake pipes
-new tyres on the back 255 width, if I can afford a big pair of 18's I will be buying them
-overfenders going on for a final time after all rivnuts have been secured in chassis
-IRP polybushed gearbox prop doughnut going on
-gbox coming back out for clutch inspection and nut/bolt checkup, might also swap in my spare box which will be quieter
-add new wiring loom section for +12v live to ecu constant to allow idle control motor to work correctly
-stickers going on all over the car
-remake slam panel/rad support bar
there are a few other things that are small time consuming jobs, I really want to remove the engine again and remake the water pipe around the block so that I can have shorter matrix pipework and less clutter in the bay however it all comes down to time frame and what I can/can't manage to do in the short period i'll have the car at the workshop for
main thing is that the car has been dry stored in the garage, it'll have the fuel drained and fresh fuel in before starting it up again and also will be cranked with ecu unplugged to get oil pressure up first time

time for a very long overdue quick update.......i have still got this car, it had in 2019 a ton of work done, 4 inch custom made exhaust etc, more fuel, more power!
cleared around 700hp on the dyno estimated by the mapper, we couldn't get grip past 660bhp with 2 people in the back, 285 wide semi slicks at low psi and so on.....2 bar of boost was insane
one of the scariest cars i've driven. the power delivery was incredible
upload pic
second child and covid came along the same week as lockdown announced, i was off work for a long time during it etc and had to sell parts to get some cash in the door quick as the wife also was off work and it became a disaster for us
now years on here i am with the shell still in great condition, i recently copied an sr autobodies style floor pan refresh. just a clean up, repaint, new stonechip and a sorting out
bare metal, rust prevention paint, red oxide, seam sealer, gravitex stone chip, black enamel ontop
it is going back to nice road car spec, usable 300bhp and just an enjoyable car again, it was too crazy before
polybushed subframe instead of solid bushes, lsd instead of welded diff, cage removed, fuel pump back in tank for noise reduction, nice set of speakers etc
stock front pannel welded back on with bonnet cable instead of aero catches, stock uncut s14a bonnet on and ready for painting, all done with original spot welds etc so it doesn't look like it has been off, trying to keep it as oem and clean now as possible
stock fuse box disaster as it's a jdm car with different wiring, sorting that out slowly, lots of little things going on to make it just a normal modified s chassis with a 1j
1jz vvti chaser engine which i've tidied up, got it in a mess from an importer after waiting 12 months. head rebuilt by the head shop, all 24 valves reseated etc so should be a nice stock engine with bolt ons for now, i've been refreshing it and painting bits over the last while to get it ready to go in the bay
then the car is off to the fabricators for new tubs, i/c pipes, exhaust work, gearbox mount and a few other various little jobs i'd like done since it's now no longer a drift car i can have some cool things made without the fear of crashing and ruining them
will update later once the engine is in, fabrication and paintwork is done, can't wait to drive the car again. Being a dad has taken over but this will always have a special place in my heart this car.
maybe i'm just getting old
