My advice would buy a import s14 or s15 so you don't have the ball ache of rust.

Welcome to the club. Don't let VVT rattle put you off the S14, mine had it really bad when I bought it, but it doesn't affect the drive or anything else, it just sounds awful, I used mine for quite a few months until a brand new genuine VVT sprocket turned up on Ebay and I won it for about £220 delivered, £20 for rocker cover gasket and a couple of evenings work, it's now silent.

Why not skip the pain of and cost of 200 ownership and just buy a BMW (or an MX5) straight away, you'll save yourself a fortune (and fit right in! )
haha thats funny! i love the mx5s, they are adorable!
my other choices were actually an rx7 or skyline.
problem is rx7s are NOT rookie drift cars and a hell of alot of maintenance
and i think i would look hilarious getting out of a skyline
i do understand i am in for alot of heart ache but i have motorbikes so i have a very good sense of humour and
a decent amount of love for pain
Hi,
You're super hot and you drive a 370Z?
Cool
Get a 180SX!
Would be perfect if had an r35 lol
i considered rx7s mostly because i love the way they look/sound, i have the same view towards wearing very high heels...awesome looking but very unpractical and something could break at any second...but i still wear them frequently!
was thinking of an R33 as the engines are pretty bombproof, however i am not knowledgeable on reliability of the rest of the car, so please enlighten me.
the problem with most of the cars you mention, they are all now 10 years + old, and reliability especially at that age is down to how they have been driven, treated and serviced. Rust will be a major issues as well, mainly if you look at an imported one. as the cars get older, they get cheaper to buy, but the cost of repairs/servicing stays reletivly static, so [some] people cut corners, dont do it too often or just see the "cheap jap car" on the drive as a car to be abused, as they got it quite cheap.
if any car has been properly looked after, it will last forever, but thats the thing. and this goes for any car really. i have got a 15 year old BMW Z3 on my drive, i bought this year for £1600. its a cracking car, but so far i must have spent an additional £1000 on it, with possibly another £1000 before i'm happy with it. but i enjoy playing with the car so i see it as my hobby. and some people spend £1000's on fishing.
I'm with you on the looks, I was so close to getting one about 8 years ago, but, especially then, there were too many horror stories about the engine, so I when with plan B and got the '32 GTR.
'33 GTST is a great car, we've had a couple, few basic mods and they're fairly nippy too, amazing to control and quite predictable. Personally I'd look for a '32 with the RB25DET conversion, but I'm a '32 guy The only risk with that is making sure the conversion has been done properly to a good standard and that's not necessarily something that you'll find out until something goes wrong.
As long as they've been maintained well reliability won't be an issue, but as said, check for rust, I'm not up on the hot spots for '33 rust, though I know round the front strut tops are a favourite area.
