    Heater fans not working

    Hi all

ever since buying my car the fans have only worked on number 4. Was a little annoying was it was difficult to keep the car at a comfortable temp but i could put up with it.

But now it will randomly stop working all together. This morning on way to work they worked fine at first, then i noticed it was getting colder and that there was very little/no air coming out of the vents. Same on way home, worked at first and then stopped working during drive.

This is making the car a cold place to be and also is causing the windows to mist up while im driving

It's under the tray under the glove box!

There will be a dry joint in the centre!

Scratch it off/clean it then blob some solder onto that to remake the joint!

    Ta daaa, all working again

A heater card is held in by 2 phillips screws and a electrical connector. put your head under the dash on the passenger footwell... look up....there it is. less than 5 mins to fit

this happened to mine, changed the resistor card and back to normal! easy and cheap repair !

Hopefully that will solve your problem ( a new resistor card)

If it isn't working at all, it could be the blower motor. Mine went on me a few weeks ago, try hitting with something and it should hopefully make it spin up.

This is a very common S14 fault.

The pose of; bum on passenger seat and head under dashboard , is not cool or fashionable, but is the way to find and extract the dodgy resistor card

I have this exact problem. Fans blow on setting 4 but nothing on 1-3.

So the heater card is in the passenger side footwell?

Yup, passenger footwell. If I remember correctly, the heater card is the Nissan Micra one, about £30 from Nissan. It looks like this, S14a one is the bigger one, Nissan Micra is the smaller one I think. http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.p...-resistor-card

if the 'chip' has eroded off the end of yours you can usually just clean it up and stick a blob of solder in its place.

That's the plan mate, if it's not salvageable I'll go down the mixes route

Oddly it's worked fine right up until the trip back from LM, don't know if the eat over there just took it's toll or if it's been on the way out and I hadn't noticed but it's done well to last this long.
