    My S15 Should I turbo It? ;)

    Hey Guys,

Thought It was time to Get up a project Thread from day one of ownership

So the Car is Mot'd, Reg'd in the Uk, Now has Uk Plates.

    A Few Pics

The Day is was delivered to me

Now after a bit of Tlc

Stevie Laughed, "were not getting it on this ramp" lol

A Few Problems that need addressed.
    Headlights - Misty as normal

    Before -

    After Cutting compound.

The key for the Car only fits the ignition barrel and the drivers door did not lock.

We took the door card off and found the remainder of an after market alarm system with a misting and jubilee clip holding the door open. Possibly done to stop someone from locking the door and not being able to get in.

So now from inside I can lock the doors from inside.

I'm going to try and get an after market Central locking system, Any advice?
or s14 locks to swap over.
I'm not sure if the S14 locks will be a strait swap?

After Putting it on the Ramp. This car is the cleanest Sbody That I have ever seen.
I'm very happy with buying it. Even if it is slow!

It does slide quite well, we did find when we had it on the ramp that it had locking collars in it.

Shall I Turbo this? Or when I will I?

Looks really nice mate, Shame the rear bumper seems to be from a different kit.

I'd definitely SR20DET it, it'll be so easy. And even stock will feel a lot faster!

    What I found.

Sr20det is no worse on fuel if driven in the same manner and its set up right, ie no boost leaks and mapped.

Reliability is the same, just kept it basic and do the tubby gasket and braided lines properly with a good clutch... Note not some overrated monster that will contribute to killing your box and introducing crank float.

It's easily done in a day

Only Problem with this is, if I turbo it.
    I will Track it!

Today I have bought a Set of Locks from an s14a and a remote central locking system.

So should have these by Tuesday/Wednesday

Is there anyway of re-syncing the key I have? I've tried everything. however it may not be the key that originally was synced to the car. So it might never work.

    Took some good photo's today.

It looks like it should be fast, therefore turbo or V8 is the only way.

2JZ? Whole lot of hassle unless your gonna run like 600hp...

300-350hp SR all the way. Its a shit load easier!!

So due to my locking issue I purchased this

I also purchased a set of s14 locks.

So tonight I took the door card off and installed one of the actuators. The Drivers door when closed still activated the Central locking. So I didn't bother with the other arm.

I will install the locks in the next few days. Just encase for any reason the central locking ****s up. lol

Car is booked in with Kyle from chizfab to get the rear Arches rolled on friday. Didn't want to try this myself as I want an awesome lip with minimal damage.

Today I went the 2 hour trip to chizfab to get the arches done.
The arches were in great nick and were easy enough to role however one side was slightly more difficult due to the petrol flap being so close to the arch.

a teaser pick before I get the spacers on and a little photo session.

so this week I got the car professionally undersealed .
    looks mint underneath now.

after having the car at chizfab getting the arches rolled I got round to putting my 25mm spacers on.
Once the 14 is in the lock up for winter I will chuck on the front spacers too. Here is what it looks like now.

After taking my Celica to jonnys garage yesterday I really did feel that the s15 was underpowered.
Driving a 400bhp daily makes you really think if your imagining it.

checked the usual suspects and found this

Looks like the distributor has been taken out and not put back in properly .
there was a little movement to advance it a little and the car picked up massively.

so the next step is to get the timing done!

    Few whore pics

Lastnight Herman and mark helped me look at the timing on the 15.

We connected the consult and set the base timing to 15 degrees and the engine just cut out.

Herman said there was no way it should do that.

so rocker cover off and we found that the cams have been out and the marks on the timing chain were also out.

in the dark and pushing rain we decided that we would start from scratch .

So set at tdc, and counted the links either side to the marks on the sprockets.

5 teeth on the left and 9 teeth on the right.

put all back together and put the chain tensioner in and mark noticed a small crack on it. Similar thing happened to mapboy on his.

so stuck in westhill Herman took us back to Aberdeen and picked up marks car. Went to my house and took the tensioner out my s14

finally got it got back together and distributor aligned correctly .

set base timing to 15 again and it bogged down and was running poor. It's still a tooth out we think.

Tonight we are going to marks work to set the timing, but in the light and warmth this time
