yeah i lost many many many hours of my youth playing that game lol.. not sure if it was the best thing for a kid to be selling slaves but there we go..
only got 60 days to rais a fcuk load of money though
Although it would be good for another Elite, there has been a fair few similar games since (i.e Privateer/Privateer 2: The Darkening/X:Beyond the Frontier/X2/X3).
bovvered?
Wow. Braben. Impressive.
If the Wing Commander guy can do it, I'm sure he can.
X3 series has been good but its missing a lot of elements with its limited tight systems. The new one looks promising but has ship restrictions, we need more space games that work well on modern engines.
Freelancer was up there in system size as well as combat control, brilliant even on the mouse, but limited scope. An X3/Freelancer/Eve combination would be brilliant.
Something interesting for you guys to peruse http://www.robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/

I lost an entire summer holiday to Elite when I was at school. I'd buy a new version.
I'm NOT the Chairman anymore, Ken was. He still likes poo though. Its not Jim either now. Ooh ooh, its now Doc!

Amazing. Loved Frontier on my Amiga more than any game before or since.
David Braben's been banging on about a new Elite for decades. Seem to remember reading that a falling out with Frontier's co-developer put things back. Lets hope this time he succeeds.
Do any of these Kickstarter things ever amount to anything? It's a new concept on me.
Yeah they do..
Last few kickstart projects i supported have now been released.
FTL - http://www.ftlgame.com/ this is an awesome and addictive little game
Chivalry - http://www.chivalrythegame.com/ good multiplayer sword fighting game COD but with sword and axes lol
I have pledged to more but they are still in development.. i only tend to pledge fro things that I really want and usually with good kickstarter pages. Basically you pledge whatever you want but if they dont reach the amount they want then you get the cash back. If they do reach that then you will get the package you pledged to. Dont get me wrong you are taking a bit of a gamble of course but i usually pedge aronud £20-£30 as i dont really mind in the long run if i loose out on it but if i end up with an awesome game then thats even better.
A lot of thnig games on kickstarter may not get proper backing from main stream publishers as the games tend not to be your average clnoes that you keep seeing the big AAA publishers pushing out, it also gives the devs freedom to do what they want when they want..
For me i think its the best thing to happen to PC gaming since steam
hell yeah also pledged to that one
