    Pillion Friendly Bike recomendations

Well the time to start planning my next bike is here...

Hopefully will have a yrs no claims in March and will be looking at changing the monster for something more wife friendly

looking to spend around £3000, wants to be fun, and reasonable insurance.

been messing with quotes and a Super Blackbird comes in at £250/yr and seems a good choice for price to buy and reviews, so this is the bench mark

    suggestions please

    Blackbird is a good shout.

Since you're on a naked already maybe something like a gsx1400 as they've a very flat seat?

Something like an early Hayabusa has a very pillion friendly rear seat. Its also in that tourer insurance class too IIRC.

    Triumph Sprint, 1200 bandit, V-Strom 1000, Thunderace, ZRX1100, BMW 800S, Futura 1000

looks like a sprint will be out of my price range

Honda VFR 800 seem to get good reviews.

How do the big jap bikes compare to stuff like my monster? having gone back-back with a Suzuki Gladious the Suzuki fely like a cheap chineese copy

Suzuki build quality was and is no-where near Honda IMO. The VFR is a really good bike no question. The Futura mentioned above seemed a really good bike too - I didn't get on with it as I didn't like the engine but since you're on twins already it shouldn't be much of a stretch for you.

The big straight 4 stuff is awesome, though

One of my mates was under instruction from his wife that the only acceptable bike was a Boxer engined BMW.

His mistake was getting one in the first place.

After having an S4 Monster i would say that you have to try out the Triumph 1050 engine bikes like the Tiger - Daytona - Speed Triple as your next natural progression

I really do like the triumphs (drive past staffs triumph nearly every day and have a lust) but I think they will be out of my price range

With the budget you have I think the Futura will really fit the bill for you.

Ive actually fallen asleep on the back of a VFR750, waking up while banked halfway round a corner was fun

My dad sold his zx9r for a firestorm, as wanted something more pillion friendly. Was a very comfy bike to be a passenger on and the noise is pure sex

    Thunderace As suggested by Prior.

Buy a nice one for a couple of grand and you've got a grand to spend on fettling it.

well at the weekend went to staffs triumph for some sittings,

christ its hard to find something for someone with a fooked hip....

    Sprint - too wide
    Daytona - couldn't get on
Street triple - same as ducati
    Speed triple - see above
Thruxton - too close to me
    Bonniville - too hard
Bonnie america with back rest and sissy bar - "just acceptable"

and the one that was "spot on" was way way way over budget:

    Tiger 1050 Adventure

seating positions not the same - niether is the newer tiger (non adventure model), pegs are closer to the seat
