Loving the carbon bits Nikki, car is really coming along
Loving the carbon bits Nikki, car is really coming along
Here are some more roof pictures.
As you can see I was down the garage the other day, but didn't do anything too exciting. The car wasn't accelerating very smoothly again, a bit like the coilpack issue from the other week. Checked the plugs and they had got caked up so gave them a quick clean and stuck them back in. That lasted 20 miles and it came back again, so I have taken the grade 9's out and replaced them with my old set of 8's. I think I will get myself a fresh set of 8's as they suit how the car gets driven better.
As well as that we noticed that my brakes had seized up again. two were just slight and freed off easy but the offside rear caliper was stuck solid and took a bit more work to free off. All are now spinning freely, but I should really think about a caliper upgrades as I have never been that impressed by them. Plus the car gets driven every day so they shouldn't really seize up like that.
Little bits have been going on. I got myself a little Suzuki sock
One of my Christmas presents was an under seat 8" sub and I got it fitted a while back. Sadly even though its one of the thinnest of its kind it still didn't quite fit under the seat. It was fine at the front, but the back sat proud Cue Head scratching at it ended up at the bottom of the passenger footwell. It does cut into the passenger legroom by about 3" but I don't sit there
Its added a lovely low thump to the stereo now, but then the other day the fuse on it blew I think I need to make a better earth for it as its only temp fitted at the mo so we can access it and fine tune things. I will tidy the wires up a bit more once everything is working happily again.
I also got hold of some RX7 FC four pot calipers recently, My plan is to copy the Japs a make them fit, although I have no idea what discs will work just yet but I'm sure we will work it out. Sadly all the Minkara links have broken now, except one, so this picture is all I have to go on
And the calipers
I have bought a rebuild kit for them and have begun shaving off the Mazda sign on them. I will also give them a lick of paint so they match the rears.
Tiny turbo Booooooost!
Very sexy bits, saw the roof in the flesh, and it was lush.
Last few bits have come!
Ordered some new oil from Opie. Sensible to do with a new turbo going on. Final part of that puzzle.
Getting a decent tubular manifold for a Cappo is not too easy. Sure there are some available in Japan, but with prices starting from around £1000 and only heading up Luckily the local Cappuccino fabricator decided to do a short run of some Manifolds so Nikki Jumped in. Decent thickness high quality stainless was used and then its ceramic coated. Welds are not the prettiest on the outside, but the ports on the inside are matched very nicely indeed.
Six Sixty Engineering Manifold
We have all the major parts ready now
nissan 200sx discs fit on the hubs
Got access to better camera now. Have a random carbon shot
And inspected the damage from an oversized B&Q speedbump :
Bye Bye
DAL started the strip down and fitting the new hoses
I took some comparison shots of the old and new. Size size on the outside but a fair difference with impeller sizes
Also stuck the old turbo next to a skyline tubby to get a better idea of its tinyness
The refit
Hard intake pipe added to go with the new install
Also included while fitting was a new set of plugs, oil change and a new oxygen sensor for good measure
Snapped a few Vids of before and after quickly, excuse the dirty
This is after so it was a bit cold still
I set the boost controller to off and ran with actuator pressure on the way home, even still it felt great. As good as the old tubby did even set at over 20psi and a lot nicer and smoother with a more constant power delivery that no longer tails off. One very happy girly right here Can't wait to go for a spin later and start setting up the boost controller

Been very busy lately what with car shows, parties, work and helping my little bro decorate his new house, so not much has been happening other than completely knackering myself out ;(
I did manage to get to the garage a few weeks back as my arches needed a bit of help, well im so glad my mechanic has got patience with her as he ended up cutting out the rear arches and 'tubbing' them for me, sorry no after shots as it was late as per usual ;(
In the next few weeks the engine will be coming out so I can get the engine bay fixed and painted, and have a general tidy up with the engine etc, I WILL make sure I take pictures for this one
Stop hogging dal, i need him
Actually I don't think I am hogging him for a change, im booked in next week and then in August
