Laptop broke again

This time no porn induced virus yeah
I haven't used my Inspiron 1545 for a few weeks but it worked fine last time
So I came to turn it on today and all the start up noises happen but screen stays black then lap top goes into hibernation!!
Tried the battery and power out 30 seconds power button trick to no avail any advice

How do you know the laptop is going into hibernation if you can't see what it's doing .

First thing to check is whether the display really is black or whether there is a very faint image. It's possible it's just the backlight that's gone (well, strictly speaking it's usually the inverter that supplies the power to the backlight) so check this first - it helps to check it in a dark room as the image will be very faint .

Second thing to check is whether the display has been turned off. I don't know most laptops specifically, but a lot of them have a key combination that can turn the display off, so worth checking that too.

If the screen is still black, then try and get hold of an external monitor if you can and plug that in. If the display works then at least you know the laptop is basically sound .

As a final note, when you say 'all the start up noises happen' do you mean that you can hear the Windows 'startup' audio sound or are you just talking about the fans?
