Engine is very tappy, help please

Hello I am new to the car world and don't know to much about cars, but I bought an s14a a few months back and it's starting to sound very tappy when I accelerate seems to be when under loads, sounds fine on idle, and ideas would be appreciated, thanks

As said, make sure there's oil in it to the correct level.

After that, an educated set of ears should be able to identify the problem pretty quickly, and a blowing gasket (quite a few £ to fix ) is statistically much more likely that knackered cams (a lot more £).
Hopefully a friendly local member will listen to it for you.

A friend of mine had an s14 that was rattly. We thought it was the VVt but ended up being thin old oil that was too low. Topped it up and never heard it again.
