if we need a few more spaces towards the end. I don't mind paying for another space to make sure it goes ahead.

It looks like there's going to be helicam filming at this Crail drift day, which should be cool.

It's a guy I work with (Colin Craig) and his pal who have set up an on-the-side helicam filming business. They're both proper petrol heads, properly professional and it's an impressive set up they've put together. They're going to be doing live filming for the Alford Motorcycle Convention the week before, plus they've done some filming for local rallye events. However, they're keen to get some good drift footage under their belts.

It's been cleared with the club (thanks Kev) but I thought I'd stick a quick post in to let folk know that's what it is / that's who they are should you see them there. The 'helicopters' have got a load of auto-hold gear worked in - including height channels meaning they can chase cars accurately without actually hitting anything. They're pretty non-intrusive, but if you see them buzzing around don't worry - they're under tight control and are not going to hit you!

If anyone has any queries please drop me a PM and I'll pass them along.

Also, if anyone's feeling particularly flamboyant be sure to let them know ahead of your run as proper (controlled!) show boating will make for great footage =), plus I believe they're planning to take a bunch of bullet cams so the odd car can be rigged out.

Here's a quick link to early car-chase experiments:

[All I need now is a cheap drift slag for the day and we're sorted! ]

That helicam is gonna be proper awesomeness.

Theres gonna be some awesome footage from some of the guys drivers, im guessing their radio transmitters have a decent range on them?

Yup, long range on them. I don't know what it actually is right enough. It's far enough for them to need lo-res flying cameras though in addition to the hi-def 'footage' ones. They're seemingly working on one just now that'll top 100mph too, but I think that's going to be a wee way off. It's really smart kit with loads of self recovery functionality as well as the auto-hold stuff. Should be some great footage.
