Ways to unlock my iphone 4....??

    Hey all,

Bought an iphone 4 on ebay. Its locked to Vodafone UK..... no probs for me as i am on vodafone UK already.

However i want to use it with o2 Ireland when return to the ROI every now and then.....

Its a legit iphone... not barred, or reported lost or stolen or anything like that.

I just saw this service on ebay.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IPHONE-4s-...item336ecd9478

    and wondered if:
a). anybody here has used it and was it all ok?
b). Does anyone know what this guy is doing to unlock it so i can do it myself?

    Cheers.

Try calling Vodafone and telling them your going on holiday and want to use a foreign sim. Thats what I did with O2 and they did it for free

Edit: Removed my since the post was removed

You can do it for free yourself...You can either call up your network provider and ask them to do it (probably best way) or you can jailbreak it and unlock it but it depends on your baseband and or your iOS version.

Jail breaking is best if your warranty is out. Quite a few benefits also.

I did...so it's possible. Mines now have the official unlock though.

Not for unlocking it's not. Just call Vodafone and get them to do it.

But what im saying is if your warranty is out, the benefits of jail breaking are vast, not only will you get the phone unlocked to any network - but you can do practically anything with the phone and the correct know how. And it's easily done yourself. I can't see a downside to it tbh?!

Ok fair enough, I thought you meant for unlocking since that's what the question was about

You leave your phone open to Malware

Technically all phones are open to malware now...regardless of being jailbroken or not. I've experienced no malware and even run some sort of anti virus on my iOS.

Not like a format wouldn't solve any issues though...

was told not possible as I wasnt the guy who originally purchased the phone/account holder/phone is not in my name as far as it concerns them!?

So how can it be done now then? currently using this dodgy sim card holder thing to use my orange/EE sim in it

IPhone 4 can only be unlocked if on old software.
On New software there is no solutions unless you contact the provider.
as Clive said if you want it unlocked, you have to be the customer.
apple also sell the unlocks for 70quid to third parties now

Go into a cex store. My other half works for them and her store in Brentwood unlock them for 40 pounds. Others are just starting the service too

throw it as hard as you can against a wall. It will unlock & give you access to the magic pixie inside
