    Custom outer lips

Who can make this up. I need some new custom outer dishes for my 3 piece split rims.

I've email titanium touch and they can't make them up apparently.

Who else can make me up a 4.5 and 6" dish in stainless steel. I don't want to go to image as I've heard bad things.

    Help!

Image wheels, but be warned, not the strongest out there, they are nicknamed "chocolate lips" lol.

People like Superlite can too, tell me the size and PCD of the bolt holes, will ask a guy I know from a forum, his dad owns superlite so may be able to help you

What was Titanium Touch's reasoning for being unable to make them?

Suj: let me know if you know anyone who is willing to help.

    Quail:

This is what I sent them:

    Hi there,

I'm wondering if you can help me out. I need a set of Stepped Outer
Stainless Steel lips made for me.

The wheels I have are Stern Reverse Face II's. Please see picture attached.

The face of the wheel sits in front of the outer lip in terms of
construction. I don't know if that will cause an issue in terms of the
measurements that need to be taken.

From your order form I have taken the measurements for what I need as
    follows:

    FRONT (2 Number):

    1. ZD = 375mm
    2. LK = 396mm
    3. AB = 40
    4. RB = 3.0"
    5. RG = 17"

    REAR (2 Number):

    1. ZD = 375mm
    2. LK = 396mm
    3. AB = 40
    4. RB = 4.5"
    5. RG = 17"

In the outer lips there also needs to be a cut out for the valve to fit
through. How would you measure this?

Please can you quote me how much these will cost to manufacture and then
    ship to the UK?

In terms of getting measurements correct. Would it be better if I sent you
one of the current outer lips to you can take measurements from it?

Please let me know, I look forward to your response,

    Hamish

    And their response:

    Hi,

this is to big for flat rims 17 inch. For 17 inch step rims the CD is about
    348 mm

    Not great IMO....

Well that's an epic fail. What about taking your current outer lips to a machinist and saying "Copy this, but BIGGER "??

EDIT: Also, I love that I've now made it into your signature. I'm feeling a bit of a man crush here for me dude.

I could do rob. But I don't want them copied exactly cos I want them to have a step in the lip. I would prefer to take them to someone who has done this sort of thing before.

Dunkz successfully managed to get new lips for his rims, think he used a German company. We need a definitive answer, theres loads of people who want bigger lips, myself included.

By looking at your measurements it looks to me like your trying to put a stepped lip onto a rim that would usually be a flat lip. In doing so your center bore is far too large for a 17" stepped lip. What you would need to do to make that a stepped lip wheel is move up to 18" which would require new inner barrels as well.

As a comparison one of the 17" stepped lip wheels I have had done has an inner bore of 339mm compared to what your asking of 375mm if thats of any use to you?

VR wheels suck, never seem to get a response.

I tried titanium touch and image, image didn't want to know and touch didn't care with emails taking 2 weeks to ask for a picture of my wheels? As they didn't know

Wheelflip on the other hand said postage is no problem lip size is no problem emails back and forth everyday answering my queries and generally good service which is what you want Order placed and it's 4 weeks till there here

Dunks speaks the truth. You will need to go to an 18inch to get a step in there. Unfortunately there are not many who manufacture these lips unless they are BBS. There was a company I ran into who could possibly spin the dish but they were aluminium. Might be worth searching google for spinning.

Dunks. Many thanks for this. I'm still a bit confused. Basically I can't change a 17" flat lip into a stepped lip?

I wanted to achieve this look:

    Not this look

I'm guessing this isn't possible without turning them into an 18" wheel?
