haha me too! but I did have a day the other day fitting lots of them!

its 3.92 ratio, it seemed like a nice all rounder on 17's, I think I worked it out to do about 145mph top speed, my new 4.3 on 15" wheels is another story!

Im hoping the shims I have are still somewhere close as they are all marked up still. I guess the only way to know is to try them.

What the tolerance for the rocker? They come in 25micron sizes so I guess that's the tolerance to work to?
I have made the tool for clocking the shims, all I need to know now is what tolerance to work to? The workshop manual doesn't really say other than stating the shim thicknesses available.

    Anyone know?

Change of plan with the wheels. Went for an 8j et-8 will give me 2" extra track either side

I ha a hiccup with the engine build, bottom end has to come apart as the builder didn't skim the oil pump housing as requested! Bloody pita.

The plan is to drive down to cornwall in it to the bothers in Hayle. Could arrange a detour to tie in with a SW meet.

Got some calipers for the rear to replace the drums! Sierra cosworth
Calipers in need of a small refurb. They are free to move just a little crusty!

Head is torqued up to 85Nm

I was just going to block or join together the two heater matrix pipes

But I think I will do away with the whole lot to get rid of all of this mess

I will be getting one of these to replace the oil cooler

Cams are now installed with the CAS, can I put the rocker cover on now or would it be best to crank it over first to check oil flow?

After a fair bit of head scratching and a thread on here I know what to do with the water pipes under the inlet manifold. If anyone else want to do it here is the thread. Basically it will eliminate the water/oil cooler and the matrix.
    http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=536210
I cut the original steel pipe that went from the head to heater matrix and brazed the end over to make it into a reducing elbow. 19mm to 13mm ish. Will get a picture later. It will be used to flow water from the inlet manifold to the back of the thermostat as all the pipes are different now

A 12mm bolt to block the oil cooler water feed in the block as I can't loosen the fitting to remove it.

Cut and Brazed over the pipe that was the return from the heater matrix to use it to block the pipe to the part where the thermostat housing bolts to.

Finally found my turbo locking tabs so that can all get fitted soon.

The plan is to get the inlet and exhaust side finished by next week. I need to move garages by the end of the month!

Made up a bracket to fit the alternator on the exhaust side last night

I need to trim it a little bit more where the black lines are.

Anyone know how to work out what length belt I'd need? 5pk???

Just reading that thread I just want to pull the engine out of my la gold procomp (locost - just smaller lol)

I used the alternator off the old zetec engine on mine and can confirm the belt lenght but suspect diff to yours - I just measured up and found one to suit in local motor factors and used 5 groove item

Are you still using the live axel? I have the lada niva item which is viewed to be a lot stronger than the std mk2 escort item but very worried about running any real power through it - only running upto 250bhp atm and done 1 full track day - 5hrs of abuse and was fine and a LOT of fun..........and quick

Must catch up with you at some point to share some knowledge

I need to slot the alternator bracket at work so I can align it easier and then anodise it black or maybe clear. What side is your alternator? I have moved mine to the turbo side to give more steering rack room.

I am still on the English, as long as the boost comes in slower and I don't do any launches I think it will last ok! If not then I will change to a sierra axle on a De-Dion setup I think.

Do you have a build diary anywhere or pics on photo bucket etc. would be good to see yours

I think I will be starting the strip down at the end I October after our Indian summer were going to have.

Alternator relocated to the hot side same as you sir

I modded the ford bracket to retain that alt and been fine. I will machine something more perm when I next take it out and maybe use a new alternator for no good reason other than it will look nice lol

No diary as such, started and built over 2 weeks and tweaks for a week not long back before tracking. Have got some pics but nothing of the finished item to hand and at the unit so not even near me to take any

Ho;ing the diff holds out and would like to beef it up and put an lsd in but if it dies then the option is to stick something more upto the job and then run some more ponnies

Will take some pictures next time I am passing and ping them over

What condition are they in Chris? I need two for the rears so a T1R would be ideal until I can stretch to some R888 or similar.

S14 management with HKS EVC 6 boost controller

Never workered or built a kit car setup before - sooooooooooooo much easier than putting big engines into little cars road cars lol

I solid mounted the engine and box and used this with some other key points to add strength back to the chassis after having to remove 2 sections. Engine is standard other than

    Tubi manifold
    Uprated plugs
    Apexi filter
3" custom downpipe to 2.5 backbox
044 bosch pump with 1.5ltr swirl pot and modded tank as no longer car setup
Custom propshaft to mate S14 box to the lada niva rear axle
Used vag header tank - had one spare
    used VX220 turbo i/c
ford zetec alternator and bracket modded
    braided turbo lines

Then just few items reused -
    spa micro dash
    custome charge temp sensor
    brake bias
    converted clutch to hyd

LOTs of things I still want to do and the engine has a small oil leak at the front I hate but its work in progress and want to baffle the sump, make a bonnet buldge, alloy fatter rad, ext oil filter and poss cooler, extra cage sections for pax side
