    which is best? (oem gaskets or silicone sealant)

    as the title..

    in the intake, wich is best?

    silicone engine sealant (red usually) or oem gaskets?

    oem paper gaskets are prone to failure?

    I made some paper gaskets myself for some parts of the intake. For the manifold to head and upper to lower manifold I used genuine nissan gaskets. For all the rest I have cut paper gaskets myself.

    This. Make sure both the faces that mate to the gasket are clean before you fit it.

    I think I have a spare inlet gasket I can send you if they turn out to be silly money from Nissan. I'll have a look tonight.

    Nothing wrong with liquid gaskets if you select the correct stuff and use it as instructed.

    the plenum to inlet manifold gasket cost me about £19 a few months back.... im sure the inlet manifold to head will be the same..
