    8,500rpm in Morrison's car park

    Attachment 75232

My tacho appears to have gone a bit crazy. For the journey home it was on the end-stop. It did eventually settle down. When I fired it back up in Morrison's car park, it wound up to 8.5k again.

Anyone know what feeds the tacho? Is it the same as the ecu feed? The ecu is clearly seeing the correct revs, otherwise it would cut the fuel if it thought it was pulling those sort of revs.

Sounds like the solder joints on the back of the dial, mine does the same. Take a look here for a fix:

    this happened to minE!
needed to re-solder the joints on the back of the dial...quick and easy job if you can use a soldering iron!

Easy fix if you are competent, suck off all the solder around the IC, clean & re-solder, job done

I have done loads of these so let me know if you have a problem. It takes longer to get the dials out than to fix it

If your a good solderer give it a go!

Otherwise just go and buy another set of dials where the rev counter works and swap the rev counter (on its own) over. Piece of piss!

Thanks for the responses guys - I'll give it a go. It's distracting having the needle in the red for the whole journey to work.

Try doing it ALL the way to Germany lol

In the end I soldered it, didn't work, so took needle off.
Then got back and got some clocks and stole the rev counter out of it

Try soldering it first, if it doesn't work, then just get some more clocks
