    My S14a build

Seeing that i've been on here for a while now. I thought as its the new year almost, I'd start a build thread for my S14a.

I bought the car in November 2008 with 56k on the clock. My previous car was a Clio 182, so I was looking forward to getting used to a totally different car.

The car came with the following spec:

    Apexi induction kit
    FMIC
    Apex Tubular Manifold
Apex Fast road coilovers with adjustable top mounts
    18'' Wheelmania wheels
    Japspeed straight through exhaust

The first job was to stick it on the dyno. Greg who at the time was at Weston Performance stuck her on the dyno and came back at 207bhp with a bit of fettling. Had quite a big boost leak and dodgy lamba, but was soon sorted.

A few months went by and a bit of saving over that winter. I purchased some goodies to up the power a bit. A Gizzmo boost controller was fitted a the boost raised to 0.7bar resulting in 262bhp. That should keep me going for a while.

So as the time went on saving up for parts. The exterior needed looking at. I purchased a type 2 front splitter from SRB and some Nissan clear indicators. The front bumper was also cut out to expose the front mount.

The plate was also added as a surprise present from an ex girlfriend.

Next was to get rid of those awful wheels. Spotted a set of GTR's on here with tyres. Virtually brand new, so snapped those up and went straight on. The rear arch needed a slight roll to fit them comfortably. The front was spaced out with a 25mm spacer.

    18 by 8.5 et35
    18 by 9.5 et30

Next on the list was to sort the braking out. I purchased a pair of Wilwood calipers with some 345mm discs and braided lines.

After searching long and hard for some skirts and spats. Finally managed to get a pair of Bomex ones. Along with these the boot was despoilered and rear wiper removed.

An Apex rear cage was fitted and stripped the rear seats out.
Didn't really do a lot to the car for a while after the bodywork. Generally maintained it and enjoyed it. A Bride bucket seat and Sparco steering wheel was added to bring the interior up to speed.

The modding bug soon came back though. I know its not a lot of peoples taste, but on full boost I think it is just awesome.

    Buddyclub Spec II exhaust

The spending spree continued. Racelogic TC with Launch control.

Finally decided on getting a remap done after 18months of ownership. A few issues were playing on my mind and wanted them sorted. Nismo 555's, greddy E-manage, Z32 AFM and the boost a remap at ProTuner came back at 305bhp with similar torque at just under a bar of boost.

Everything was going smoothly with the car since I bought it, apart from blowing the manifold gasket, but we won't go it to that.
I had a slight mishap with one of my wheels. A hairline crack appeared on the front drivers side.
The only way to fix this was to buy a pair of GTR-D's. 10j with an et of 12. The 9.5's were taken from the rear and put on the front.

Called upon a friend of mine on here. Sean-B was a legend. He rolled all arches and a slight flare to accommodate the new wheels. In the process of this he stripped down my coilovers and gave them a thorough refurb. The ride height was then lowered to suit the new rims. Couldn't of asked for more to be honest. They fitted a treat, was really pleased with the outcome.

The most recent purchase to complete the interior was a pair of Recaros from an Evo 6.

That brings the build up to date for now. Will be going to stage 3a in the spring hopefully. Just got to find a nice set of cams to go with the new turbo.

    Parts to fit:

    GT2871r
    Nismo 740's
    All new gaskets
    New Elbow
    AVCR
    H-Dev manifold

All comments are welcome. Cheers for looking so far.

That Fastcar pic makes it stick out a lot more than it actually does. No trouble yet though.

TEGIWA Brake Stopper. Under heavy braking, the bulkhead by the brake master cylinder flexes, resulting in an almost spongy pedal feel. This powder coated stopper bolts to the bulkhead and brake cylinder itself, dramatically reducing this flex. This in turn leads to a significantly improved brake feel, not just on track but on the road too. An extremely cost effective and underrated modification. For ultimate results, use in conjunction with braided hoses and high quality fluid.
I bought it months ago, but only just found it. Not sure if it will make a major difference. but better than just sitting in a drawer I suppose.

Cheers mate. I did like that Bride, but wanted a matching pair of seats. Hope you've still got that Civic. Always had a soft spot for those.

Yeah, the seats were out of an evo 6. Hope you make the 13 just as nice as your Civic was.

Thanks mate. The Buddyclub isn't to everyones taste, but on full boost it is awesome. The sound of the turbo spooling up is so clear.
