    RobD's 14a :)

Not been on the forum long but hopefully on Sunday I'll be putting down a deposit on my own S14a

I've been speaking with Klonky on here for a week or so now and from the pics he's sent of his car (minus the engine) it seems like a good car and a good price! So as long as it's not rotten underneath I'll be putting a deposit down and collecting in the new year! to say I'm excited is an understatement, since April when the Supra went I've missed not having something that moves when I press on the accelerator! Sadly the focus I bought didn't quite fill the gap the supra left with it's 1.8 litre engine

The S14a is missing it's engine but I've already got one that I'll be building up ready to fit into it so shouldn't be long until it's back on the road

    Sunday cannot come quick enough!!

Cool... but probably best to try and keep a cool head until you've carefully checked it over rather than telling yourself 'I'm going to buy a car on Sunday'. (I don't know the car, just general advice).

Hope your plans work out, I know what you mean about missing power, I hired a 1.0 Chevy Spark on holiday and it was just hilariously gutless after being used to the 180.

Good advice from samoht. It's very easy to get carried away, fall in love on sight and buy any old thing!

I'll be going with a level head on me, I'm a mechanic by trade so I'll know if it's worth a punt or not. As long as it's not rotten underneath I'm not overly fussed about anything else

Well I went to see it today, had a good look around, jacked it up high and had a good root around, very clean indeed! A few bits on the body needs sorting but I'm not overly fussed! Put a deposit down and I'll be picking it up in January sometime now

I thought I was already? I paid the £21 sign up fee, I can see the classifieds and write in them etc!

I'm uploaded pics now, it's really nothing special ATM but this time next year it'll be a different car

Welcome to the live style of what just fell off ,
Is that smoke from the exhaust or is something on fire
And opening the bonnet daily to try work whats broken now or whats about to fall off today then
Only joking when they work ok they can be totally awesome

They can be awesomely annoying tho (weirdly like an attractive GF who picks her nose or farts in bed) and it may make you especially when you've had a taste of how good they can be
You may want to do this at the road side when they decide to have a bit of a rest on the hard shoulder So maybe don't carry lots of hammers in your boot
But still the best car for fun per £s value IMO

Well I finally picked this up today, after being snowed off last weekend I definitely wanted to get it this weekend!

I've bought the engine Klonky had also and a few bits off here to get her on the road, spec list so far is as follows ( head work is already done):

    Head,

    Skimmed
    New valve guides
    New valve stem seals
    Pressure tester
    Chemically cleaned

    Block,

    New piston rings- already done
    Re-honed-already done
    Con rods checked-already done
    Crank checked- already done
ACL heavy duty con rod bearings- in the engine already, will be checked
ACL heavy duty main cap bearings- as above
ACL heavy duty thrust washers- as above
    ARP head stud kit- sourced
    ARP con rod bolts- sourced
    ARP main cap bolts- sourced
Wiseco pistons and rings ( undecided on these yet)
HKS 1.2mm head gasket- came with engine
    Block painted and painted
Larger baffled sump ( 5.0litre)- came with engine
Nismo engine mounts- still to source

    Trans,

    Exedy organic clutch- sourced
    Stock Flywheel- sourced
    Nismo gearbox mount
    Fresh oil

    Turbo, exhaust.

    Stock turbo with braided lines-sourced
    Apex manifold- sourced
    Japspeed down pipe- sourced
Apex cat back exhaust- came with the car
    Stock cat

That lot is temporary to get it on the road, I've got a top mount holset kit waiting to go on when funds allow for bigger injectors, engine management etc.

    Inlet and fuelling

    Apexi air filter- sourced
Apex front mount and pipe work-came with the car
Walbro fuel pump-came with the car

    Suspension and braking

30mm lowering springs ( unknown make, will be swapping for coil overs very soon!)
New pads and discs all round with braided lines

    Wheels

Stock 16's, these will be replaced with Rota Forces in 18's when the coil overs are installed

Once I crack on with it I'll get some snaps and start a project thread
