I like this! I think it looks aggressive without being mad, will looks sweet once it's painted up. Top work sir!
She's looking very well Lee, will be menacing when it's all one colour.
Finished? There's no such thing is there?
Last week, having suspected something was still bent, we swapped out the front subframe and tension rod brackets. Pretty easy job if I'm honest and only took the one pic.
Still pretty clean under the old girl. A little surface rust here and there but nothing major. Not bad for a car that's done 100k miles and nearly 17 years old.
Having touched the front suspension it needed checking so Saturday I took it to Jet Wheel and Tyre in Benfleet.
At work Wednesday where I noticed the steering wheel was a little off to the right and the printout was showing toe in all round instead of toe out at the front.
Left early Wednesday and dropped it back in. Back up on the ramps, small tweak and she was golden.
Not much else done apart from ordering up the bits for a more robust turbo oil return and made a start on some new real carbon fibre canards. Will update with pics later, this weekend hopefully.
What started as a simple job, swapping the turbo oil return, turned into a pretty big strip down. Good job really as I noticed there were some loose turbo studs which meant another gasket was on it's way out. Plus the turbo, down pipe and manifold needed to come off so the Turbosmart WG can be fitted in place of the tired Greddy unit. I will be welding the exhaust housing to the manifold, welding a V-band to the exhaust outlet and while I'm at it, seeing as the turbo is off, I'll get it checked over by the turbo specialist at work. Have marked out where the BOV is going and the cold pipe's off so that needs welding as well. Turbo should be nice and reliable after all this. No more gasket/stud issues.
If you ever do persuade her we can do all the groundworks and foundations as well as any drainage you might want. Cars still looking awesome btw!
She's a fine machine, I had similar issues with the studs coming loose, I tried it without the gasket, sealed pretty well, still came loose though
looking good lee
My exhaust housing is welded to my manifold, so much better not having to worry about gaskets!
