While Bernie sorts the turbo...
...I got the oil block and intake back on.
Next thing to do is cut the one piece fan shroud in half.

Ufff I go weak at the knees at this sign of billet engine components
What power was you making prior to the dismantle and upgrades ?
Two piece fan shroud, done.
Did you cut two shrouds up to make one so they could overlap? Any close ups of the joins?
Looking at doing mine soon as I have a good condition shroud as a spare and mines damaged
JC SX
Nope. I sliced one shroud in half. I then cut and shaped some plastic strips from 3mm ABS. Fitted either side, drilled some holes through and then bolted together. The bottom now goes in first, fan on and then the top half slides over, boom! I can't be the first person to do this. Having it in two pieces makes soooo much sense.
I've had such a good weekend. Picked this back up off my turbo guy. Fully rebuilt with new core TD06 with 7 blade billet comp wheel. Shame you can't really see the machined goodness. Now all I need is a Wardy Manifold and I can stick this sucker back on.
Looking good mate. Looking forward to seeing what improvements the new turbo gives you.
looking good mate, intrested to see the manifold your having built. Nice work on the shroud as well, recon its worth doing when I take mine out to replace the rad? Did it go back in easy enough?
Thanks.
Why it's not in two pieces in the first place beats me. With a thicker rad it's almost impossible to get it back in. Leaving the fan loose and then trying to squeeze you hands in from underneath is just madness. Honestly, cut it in half. I made up some plastic strips that go either side of the top half of the shroud that locate over the bottom half. It took me all of an hour and as far as I can tell it's sealed and secure. Makes fitting and remoing the covers and fan a piece of p!ss. No lying on the ground under the car needed. If/when I take it back out I'll try and get some better pics.

blaktooth, when you installed your intercooler did you have to remove the bonnet catch or did you remove it due to the new bonnet? cheers
To get the IC in you have to remove all three vertical supports. It's just a case of drilling out the spot welds. I then decided to ditch the bonnet catch as I had a carbon bonnet with Aero catches. I've bolted the other two supports back on and could refit the bonnet catch if I wanted to but I don't see that it's necessary.
cool, was not sure if you had ditched it as it would not fit back on. cheers
