    Whining when clutch depressed

In the morning when the engine is cold if i press the clutch pedel down and stick it in reverse there is a whine. It only whines when the engine is cold.

    What could it be?

    Thanks

    ps: it's on a sr20 engine.

It whines just when im using the clutch, when im off the clutch it doesnt whine. As soon as the car is warm or been running for a while theres no whining when using the clutch or otherwise.

What could it be, a 200sx mate. If you start it up and theres no strange noises then I'd panic

    hahaha this

sounds like your clutch release bearing.

not expensive but a pain to d as its at the back of the g box lol! if you put ur foo ton the clutch and disengage the g/box.. it should stop.

that said, what happens to your car is exactly the same as mine. i just put up with it until i did the clutch

I wouldnt just put up with it mate. You only mention whining when going into reverse, what about when selecting other gears? If its just in that gear then i highly doubt its just the release bearing.
Whats the mileage of the car?

    Cheers Aj

I've had a release bearing go on my old Evo no warning it just went when I was crossing a round about luckily I had enough speed and no one was on the road to get across and pull over,I would atleast put some dow back for the job to be done or just get the job done

It does sound like the release bearing, i would personally wait for it to get very noisy or wait until i needed a clutch before fitting one.

    Yes as above,

Def the release bearing and not the box.

    The end.
