The chances are, they probably don't actually.

The price is high for a reason - they don't want the risk age?

See my post. There could have been a reason other than age. It's a high quote, even given the current climate IMO. Did you really need to reply..!?

I found it the other way round... My Golf GT-TDi daily Flux wanted £770 as they rate it as a high insurance risk Diesel Golf?! High risk?! (btw, I paid them £400 fc for the 200 all mods declared - and there are a few!) so I asked Sky. £412 inc. business mileage/use. Still more than I expected it to be but it does 50+mpg...

I thought it was a section for sky insurance cheers least i didnt post this in s14 technical or something

I had a point of my first car, 1.3cdti corsa costing the same to insure a polo GTi so i got one of them. Anyway, hope someone from sky can let me know as to why if they have time.
Then cost less to get my Ibiza FR insured :P

That does seem high given your age, Ncb etc...although it has been a while since I was 21!

Have you tried the mainstream places, admiral, tesco etc

Heard of a 40yr old guy with a clean licence and living in a good area getting quoted 20k to insure a Mk2 golf 16v, got it for £300 elsewhere so I guess sometimes they just dont want to know.

The thing is. An s14 is a high insurance group and to be honest a 21 year old is still a very high risk in insurance terms. It's not till you get past at least 25 that it becomes reasonable. I'm 28 and its still over £550 a year. That's with 8 years NCB too.

Might be down to your age.. I can't remember tbh if it was Sky or another company but might be down to being under 25.

Have you given them a call to ask why? They Sky people are usually pretty helpful

Or PM / drop them an email

    At 29 I was paying about £600 a year on my s14!

Different companies use different factors multiplied to give you figures.

Therefore when some of the factors are extreme like age or performance of car these can vary massively.

At least you can be glad one company see's you as a lower risk, look at it glass half full, at least you can get insured at that age on that car.

I might give them a ring but seems like they are highly unlikely to drop to adrian flux's price or lower.

Id be happy paying £1200 for my 200sx atm tho.
    Il see how it goes

Give them a ring and ask -at least if it's down to age you'll be a bit clearer as to why!

I was paying almost that on a 106 at one point

Sucks to not be old huh! :P
