    higher compression

    Hi,

i need some advice about my head on my ca18
I overheated the engine so got the head skimmed , they took off quite alot around 00.3
This i assume will increase the compression ratio?
Will it have an effect on my standard engine, can i run it like this?

    thanks mike

Page EM-45 and 46 says total limit head + block is 0,2mm.

Get a thicker metal head gasket.

Run on higher than 93 Ron octane fuel.

We took 0.65mm off a head once. with a 1mm overbore, we calculated to be at around 9:1CR, most responsive CA I've ever known

yeah it says 0.2 thats why im a bit concerned!
the car is used only for track, the engine is in my seven kitcar.
What are the effects of to high compression ?

    thanks mike

    Geometry Changes:
The distance from the crankshaft axis center to the camshaft axis center changes and can lead to a collision between the valves and pistons. Use thicker head gasket to prevent this.

    Too high base compression:
The more you increase the base compression, the less room you have to increase the boost pressure. High base compression together with too high boost tend to lead to uncontrolled knocking.

that and skimming head and block changes cam timing too.

just use higher octane fuel. I plan on prepping a higher compression head for my CA, but i am running e85 (which has 104 octane) so the only problem will be rod strength

Same plan here. I plan a rebuilt engine with CR of around 9-10 and using E85 (which I am already using in the old engine).
