Keeping tabs on this one

RIGHT THEN !
Its at db power - after what was the scariest and harrowing drive of my motoring career.
Left mine 6am Saturday morning, The car started and ran fine other than losing a bit of oil. Booked it in for an mot at motec and off I went. All went swimmingly until i got to some shitty town with a name starting with H which i care not for now. – stopped for fuel. Went back out. Would the car start?! No.
Earth strap had fallen off. Battery wasn’t charging. The starter motor also ****ed itself.
I waited for RAC who then refused to tow me. Spent about an hour and a half asking and pleading and hitting it with a hammer when all a sudden the car decided to play ball!! – got in and drove didn’t want to stop!!
Got to reading. TRAFFIC.
Imagine.
Driving a kettle.
Sitting in traffic in the centre of reading waiting for it to conk out having to use horse whispering like powers to keep it running
Its louder than hell due to a lack of interior and a gearbox on its last legs.
Put the fan on and a jet of oily Smokey super heated air is blasted into the cabin but you have to otherwise it boil over.
I was getting high on the fumes but not a good kinda high.
It was kinda like driving a steam train.
Mercifully maidenhead was kind to me and then i hit all the country lanes to dan.
Clutch was getting more and more pissed off and the car was losing power as it was running on the alternator alone.
Somehow 6 hours later i made it to dans using the force.
Car died and that was its war cry i think. But its there!!!!
- Even more annoying was the tube on the way back to catch my train . the tube was fully ****ed! I had to run... yes ... RUN for my train
This will be a fab conversion. And I am subscribed!!
Speedy Cables will do a conversion from mechanical to electronic but it is quite expensive and "speedy" they are not so expect quite a long turn around.
Cheers
Jim

Dude,
That is what proper car builds are all about, a bit of drama and uncertainty add to the whole experience!
I'm really looking forward to blasting down the A28 towards Rouen with you in her next June.
Proper Top Gear road trip style
What was the issue with the RAC? Do you not have recovery, just roadside assistance? Glad it's on its way to a new life anyway.
Updates
Well first we removed the original engine and gearbox (was a heavy lump)
We then assembled the CA engine i.e. fitted flywheel, clutch, spigot bush and gearbox
Then did a little chopping, well grinding to be fair:-
Test fit of the CA, fits quite well
S13 rad and Range Rover P38 intercooler works quite well together
Next on the list:-
Fabricate the engine mounting points
Add some strengthening beams to the new mounts and front subframe.
Geabox Mount
Intercooler pipework
Intercooler mounts
Coolant/Heater pipes
V-Band elbow/downpipe
Exhaust
Wiring Loom
Swirl pot
Fuel hoses
Wiring
Propshaft
Gear Shift
Clutch Line
+ a few more bits I'm sure
Many thanks go to the Ocho (Paul_S13)

Looks good! I'm surprised it fitted in that nicely. Much fab work to do?
Lol! I'm sure there will! Can't be as much as Cliff's Minor project though. Whatever happened to that anyway?
One day I want to build up something like this. But thats looking like a loooooong way off yet!
Amazing thanks so much for posting these pics dan !!!
Loving this, keep the updates coming
1998 Nissan 200sx s14a , 2000 std 5 speed with nismo supercoppermix clutch bn6 Sapphire Blue
cant believe just how good that p38 intercooler works!
Update time
Well tonight we done a little more fettling in order to get the engine sitting right
One snag we had was the actuator/turbo was fouling on the suspension turret so we done a little chopping and molding:-
Before (albeit on the opposite side)
After:-
Trial (the engine still needs to be raised up 15mm yet:-
In without support of the hoist:-
Excellent! - We still gonna need the v band ?
That turret looks really good!
Any news on the gearbox mount ? dolomite one?
