The iphone 4 is to be superseded very shortly so i wouldn't be looking to it for a purchase.
If you want a quick comparison then the sensation has a much higher technical spec than the 4 by a long long way.
The sensation has a dual core cpu, faster gpu and better camera straight off the bat as well as sense 3 and a modern version of android.

But i wouldnt buy a sensation anyway, buy a Galaxy S2 as its a better phone than the Sensation (much more ram, faster cpu and is thinner with a better and bigger screen)

hmmm ... they both do all of that

Compatability with lots of things - the Iphone is compatable with lots of things that are apple and ipod friendly

the HTC is compatable with lots of things that arnt apple and not ipod friendly

What it comes down to is 2 things

    (1) are you a sad fcuk that is biassed by the image of owning one marque over another or not buying one marque because you think that the people from that marque think its an image

in which case buy into the image that most represents you

    (2) Go to a shop and play with both and see which you enjoy more

a good camera - Sensation has an 8MP camera with dual LED flash
good video camera Sensation records 1080p video
compatability with lots of things like what? iTunes? Windows PC's?
gadgets - again, like what? Funky headphones?
easy to read emails - Standard email is acceptable on both phones, but both will have email apps you can download and customise anyway...
GOOD Internet acccess ( ie - easy to read / use) -Again, all standard browsers are much of a muchness. I can vouch for Android being fast compared to the wifes 3GS but not the 4.

Any particular reason its those 2 and not the other Android/HTC/Samsung range?
You can do alot better than the Sensation.

From my experience, go with the iPhone.

I'll gladly sell you my HTC Desire if you want it so I can go buy an iPhone.

Why? it's unreliable, HTC support are useless to deal with, the layout of menu's and settings is very weird and not easy to understand. Its a good phone if you want to hack it or whatever they call it and build your own phone but then I have better things to do that to build my own phone to get the simplest of things to work.

If I can get an iPhone 3GS or newer for £100 then you got a deal

Oh, as with everything, IGNORE the spec list, just go into a shop and try them. That's what I do when anyone ask's me about what DSLR to buy, you never know until you try one.

ignore the reviews as well, just make up your own mind. It's a bit like film reviews, they never actually reflect the film when you actually what it

And Im the opposite, find the HTC better in pretty much every respect other than iTunes.

Ive known a few go from iPhone to HTC and prefer the HTC rtecently, cant say I know anyone who has gone the other way. Daz has not had a good experience with his I hasten to add though

My dad has just go a Sensation, it's a fantastic phone, so much better than my Desire - it just feels a lot slicker. The SGS2 just edges it spec wise, but it's swings and roundabouts.

    Have a quick look here:

But more importantly have a play yourself

The Gs2 is by far the best smartphone on the market at the moment, on any OS and all going by the chat about the iphone 5 it could still be come Christmas.

Dont go by customer reviews, lots of them are fan boys writing.

Apple products are fine if you want to live in apples walled garden, android phones are fine if you want more flexibility, blackberries are fine for diluting juice and windows phones are useful as paper weights

done 4 hard resets now I think and it still plays up .

The only problem I had with my iphone 3G when I had that was it got a little slower near the end of its life, that was it.

Daz, as i have said before, your problems with your Desire as not indictive of the vast majority of other users of this phone. They certainly were not with mine regardless of what rom i had on it.

Your problems with support were also a bit odd as i would have brought the ceiling down on the local mobile shop if they refused me support like you were getting (I bought it from O2 so if i have a problem with it i will definitely get support from the local branch)
