What make of wheel - Advice needed

I have absolutely no clue about this sort of thing as I have never fitted aftermarket wheels to a car in my 32 yr driving career so please help me, oh mighty SXOC.

I need to get a new set of wheels for one of my cars in a hurry. It came with 18in magnesium Prodrive wheels and two of them have gone oval when I hit a small pothole We've only had the car 1 year and its got scuffs on 3 of the wheels and the wheels have never felt well balanced so I'm going to just replace them with an aftermarket set. At the moment its driving like a wheel bearing has gone and the seat has massage cushions

What I want is 17 inch wheels that are strong, easy to clean, NOT gold and will look good on a 2010 Subaru Impreza in WRC blue.

    This...

So what are the good makes and, possibly more importantly, what should I avoid ?

Budget is ...well, less than £2K if at all possible.

    Suggestions please...

p.s. there is a special prize for the first cokc to make the gold wheels joke

    How much of a hurry?

I'd be tempted by some Enkei RPF1s in 17x8 ET45 flavour, but you probably won't get hold of them that quickly. I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who stocks them in the UK without having a look. Try contacting FRSport.com in the US about those.

Easy to clean, light, pretty looking wheels. Had them on my old 13.

If it is really urgent, I'd talk to Evilchap about Rota's that might fit. They are well made, if a little unoriginal.

Funny, I was just looking at those very wheels in black on Enkei's website. Only thing that worried me is are they going to be strong enough for road use as they are a racing wheel. Not many racetracks have potholes

Are Wolfrace any good ? They used to have a good reputation.

    TSW ?

Well on my 13 on broken surface and stupidly awful stiff coilovers they were solid. They are a very well made wheel. Even took a minor side swipe at a kerb in the snow with no damage.

I have no experience with Wolfrace or TSW wheels. They are incredibly heavy though so you'd probably have a job breaking them short of using explosives.

Nikki's Evo comes with Enkei's as standard and they have put up with pothole'd streets and speed bumps no problems

Rotas have a bit of weight behind them

I would bet money that the enkeis are better quality than the oz wheels that usually come with scoobies ans the finish on them is terrible!! my friend has had 3 wheels replaced under warranty in 18 months.

These are the standard wheels for a WRX S and they are badged up as Prodrive and made by some outfit called Rimstock in the Midlands. The finish is OK but they're made of toffee and they're aftersales is sh!te.

I'm not too sure I want really light wheels. The steering is already a bit on the light side.

So, everyone loves Enkeis. Any other manufacturers that cut the mustard ?

That will stretch to second hand Volks, but not brand new ones

Could look at Work... Maybe some XD9s would look good?

That will come in top end of your budget though, probably around the £1800 mark.

The wheel pictured comes in at £1,150 shipped for a 17x 7.5JJ so that's a possible. They're offered in white, bronze, silver or WMB. Anyone know what WMB means ?

£1150 shipped? Where did you see that? That's silly cheap!

WMB is "Work Metal bright" sort of a chromey/hyper black type finish.

I think the bronze (MHG) would look excellent

Just buy Rotas, Grids or Boosts would do the job

My knowledge of wheel options is limited but I did just spot this so thought I'd post it in here:

    Rays Wheel Catalog

*Edit*, that scooby above looks awesome.

£1150 is mad cheap even for a 17 x 7.5J Work. Crikey! My 18 x 9.5's were £1600 shipped after the duties were paid but over a year ago. Mint!
