    Suggestions for a new car

    Guys,

Since there is now a member to the family I need a new car as a daily and one that the other half can use to take junior out (we'll also be sharing the Mini) while saving for the M3 The budget isn't massive as it is only a stop gap car for 12 months.

    Requirements list:

    • 4K budget
    • 4 door saloon or 5 door hatch
    • Must not look out of place in the car park, so no Rover 75 more Golf / A4... don't ask
    • If possible, equipped with ISOFIX
    • Decent fuel consumption (30+)
    • Not too bothered in massive spec lists, more interested in ease of re-sale

    Let the suggestions roll

    Cheers,
    Si

Tbh, with those requirements I would not look for a particular car. I think a clean low milage diesel, relatively new mainstream whatever will be the least pain in the arse car to buy, short term own and sell.

If you ignore the shite the open search brings up your spoilt for choice within budget and a short drive away:

    Seat Leon!

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

+1 for the Leon....... All of a sudden I'm a big fan lol

In all seriousness for a mainstream model you'd probably get better value for money than the vw!

Pug 207/8 ? I have 3 door and my old dot has the 4 door. £30 a year to tax and av 50/55 mpg, not too bad, compared to our other cars I don't lose the will to live as much as I thought, Docwra uses it for long journeys and doesn't mind it! Seat leon nice too brother-in-law had one and was very nice??!!! Friend of mine has the focus as a family car and loves it!
    The choice is yours!! Lol

As much as it pains me, our Fabia VRS doesn't have much going against it... unless you want excitement, but it's a diesel, so that not really relevant
