I like it, it's rather nice compared to the usual nonsense Rolex punt out

I on the other hand am going to ruin this thread with my new toy

I think my work here is done

It's no my thing, I'm not a great fan of Rolex in general but I think it looks better than the SM. Can't stand the bling of the SM personally.

    Bumpo

I am rather fancying a Tag Monaco. Anyone any experience of them? Thinking this one I will buy second hand as the used prices don't seem ridiculous. Any places recommended to buy from?

    STOP BUYING WATCHES

It is addictive. I am happy with my Constellation, Planet Ocean and vintage Cyma Navy Star. It becomes expensive. Remember you have to have them serviced by the manufacturer

Read through some of this. Then skipped a bit... OK some look pretty but what do they do that my £150 Casio g shock doesn't? Plus, if/when I smack up the Casio I won't be in shock at the cost of replacing it. Sorry guys, I just don't get the watch thing.

I did see a pretty one on pinterest made of crystal with a gold dragon and planets in it. No idea on pricing but it was probably way more than I would spend on anything other than a nice car or a house!

Your G shock does not a lot more than this 15 quid Casio

    http://www.watchshop.com/mens-casio-...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

But you spent ten times that on it because? Same principle with a 1500 quid watch.

It's engineering. Watches are complex machines. Expensive watches have quality that's like comparing a Fiesta to a Ferrari.

Sure a fiesta and a fez perform, ultimately, the same function - getting from one place to another - but you rather do that in Fezza right? You'd go out in the Fezza without the need to have a destination. Would you do that in the Fiesta?

It's just engineering porn really. Craving to own something you don't need because you want it.

On that basis, when you put on your latest expensive watch you want to go for a run round the block with no purpose in mind

I don't own a wristwatch. I really want a nice fancy pocket watch but I can't be arsed to look hard for one. Hunter or half Hunter, new or secondhand. Probably prefer s/h if I'm honest as then it has history.

I must admit, a pocket watch would be nice

I stopped wearing a wrist watch for years. Used to wear one on my left wrist (Right wrist is for historically apparently) but my wrist became weak and just continued aching. So took the watch off and left it off for years. Wrist recovered, now wear them much looser. My great uncle's classic Omega constellation needs the links put back in the bracelet for that.. Planet Ocean fits perfect, loose enough it doesn't affect movement.

I'd now like a classic Rolex Datejust. Stainless Steel. I like watches to look, well like watches) Classic looking. I like the ones I have seen on here, but wouldn't wear them. I am getting old lol

Prefer watches with a dark face tbh

I just found a watch that I thought was my Dad's fake Omega that he bought in 1988

It is older. It is a Swatch with an Automatic Movement. I didn't think they did Automatic movements then, just quartz????

Strap is a bit tired, but anyone have any ideas? I'll post a pic in good light

Got a few new straps to mix things up a bit. Couldn't decide at first which of the two 20mm to put on each watch so had a couple of mock-ups before deciding to get yer tools out Gumbo.

    Get Yer Tools Auught:

The green calf leather is quite a thin strap and it looked a bit odd on the chunky body of the B&M Chronograph, so it went onto the thin by comparison SARB033 instead:

That left the blue lizard strap for the B&M - bugger didn't like having its picture taken though, the strap either washed the face out or if you focus on the face the strap looks black But it looks fab:

Together you can see the contrast:

Also treated my cheap Chinese Miyota movement'd homage to a new honey coloured strap as the old one was getting quite tatty. Love this:

    Happy days

I like the Fanerai, quite fancy one, but think they wear a bit big...

However, I was given an IWC Portuguese for my birthday
