Well, thats me down to the last 4 belgians and 3 bitters. Time to brew up the christmas brew! Might chuck a lager on the go too, just for shitsngiggles. Have just moved everything into the spare room to make storage a bit easier.
had a pop at making wine too, with a bucket full of grapes my mate gave me!

Righto, chaps....donned my flying hat and went down to faversham for the Shepherd & Neame brewery tour.
Its jolly good too. Company history, wander round the factory floor, trying the hops and the malt, with a tutored tasting afterwards. My tour included a gift pack of a two bottle box and a glass, which is rather spiffing.
Spent a fortune in the shop as they had some seasonal gear called "spooks" and i can thoroughly recommend it. Its bloody nice.

    Right, where to next.....?

    Wow 2 years later !

Thanks to a 3 for £5 offer I've been trying a few of these, however I keep returning to a Benchmark that I use to judge others.

At the moment I find it unbeatable, as mentioned in post #43

    Robinson's OLD TOM 8.6 %.

Glastonbury ales "love monkey" is a very nice ale if you can find it and get past the problem of it being served in a pink glass

I'm tempted to sample a few more of the Glastonbury ales range tbh as I'm impressed so far.

    That's pretty crazy!

I've yet to find a beer over about 6% that tastes remotely nice, but I'll keep an eye out for this one...

(And I'm discounting Tactical Nuclear Penguin completely - that's more like a beer-flavoured whisky.)

I lied OLD TOM is 8.5%

Asda has improved their offer to 4 for £5 !!

So I've got Wells, Bombardier reserve , the Colonels choice 6.0% ,and

    Ringwood , OLD THUMPER 5.6%

I can't see anything beating OLD TOM though.

Having tasted many an Old Tom at 8.5, and felt the after effects, I think I'll swerve the big guns you mention. I was tempted once to try garlic beer... this could be as bad, minus the garlic obviously. Good luck and do let us know how you get on. TNP shandy?

More like Beer top I think at 30%.

Pub I used frequent in my 20's always had a pin of 7.5% Owd Rodger on the bar at Xmas.

Back then there wasn't any CaskMark and you couldn't get a decent pint of any Marston's product anywhere in Burton on Trent.

My current favourites are, in no particular order:

    Adnam's Broadside
Shipyard American IPA (tastes a lot like St Austell's Proper job)
    Old Crafty Hen
Bad King John (actually an old favourite that I haven't seen at my local recently, damn!)
    Fuller's 1845
Pretty much any Porter or stout and anything I can get my hands on in Aldi!

Like the Broadside but it's overshadowed by the similar McEwans Champion and just remembered Manchester Star .

    Fuller's ESB also great .
