    pigeon mod..

just done this, i had a bailey DV fitted before but hate the tshhhhh chav sound! so i thought i would give the pigeon mod a try. so i blocked off the vac pipe from the DV with a bolt, and used a cut down broomstick handle (got wood? lol) for the pipe that the DV comes off.
the problem i have is, you can SLIGHTLY hear the "pigeon" noise.. but hardly at all. next to no sound at all in the car!
what could be causing this? as i know its normally very loud!

    cheers, jamie

you will need to fit a stainless intake pipe to the turbo and then its super duper loud!! get hold of a 2.25" 45degree pipe or similar and get that on there!!!

    like this ...

Ditto what Ryan said, I never had a dv and when I had rubber pipe heard nothing, metal intake pipe makes it lovely!

Also when I went from a Saab intercooler to my mahoosive one (2x the size of a gtr one) it made it ridiculous because of the extra air it holds, my mates can hear it when I'm about a mile away lol

I have the standard air intake rubber trunk and have done the pigeon mod and it is really loud and chatters for ages!!! I noticed mine went quiet when I had a boost leak. Have a search over your pipework. If mine is loud already reckon I should get me metal intake trunk

Seal then pressurise the system, listen for where the air escapes.

What air filter do you have by the way? Makes a big difference towhat you'll hear

Solid elephants trunk does make the world of difference to the noise but so does higher boost on a much larger turbo. @1.8bar mine makes one awesome chatter and it's not too bad

Also front mount has lot more air to release which is colder to which makes it louder and last longer. Then add a t28 and it's ten times better lol

What are the upsides or downsides to doing this? I hate dv noise but not into damaging the car

Some people will moan about it killing turbos etc, but it's never been proven and it's all Internet heresy so get on with it!

Sounds awesome and really different to the dv shit sound people expect, oh n I get some awesome flames on hard acceleration gear changes

The s13 doesn't come with anything from the factory so you won't be doing it anymore damage. You just can't hear it standard due to the airbox muffling it.

That is true only if the car is still standard, ie no upped boost, and a very restrictive intercooler that limits "potential damage" by slowing the air, i guess...
