    Holset Hx30 queries ?????????

Hi guys done a bit of research on holset hx30 turbos and seem to be a good match for the power/torque output i'm wanting (sr20) blacktop

Does anyone know what they come of ??? as i'm not far away from a lorry/truck breakers yard and think it'll be worthwhile having a look see if i could find one cheap but would like to know where to start (make of veichle/size etc)

I was looking at hx35's but for what i want there just to big and laggy lol But i do know they come on the IVECO 7.5 Tonne lorrys

    any info would be great

    LES

not really but also bearing in mind a 2871 will cost at least 5-£600 second hand or nearly £1000 new when i could get similar results using this turbo for maybe??? £100-£120 for the tubby from breakers £100 for a mani (xs power, unamed brand ebay jobbie) add extra bracing where needed + itll flow upto 380bhp and handle in excess of 30-40psi of boost

there used to be a company that sold them - GS racing (iirc) however i beleive they have stopped trading, so trying to source them now is a little harder, but ive read of people buying them cheap from the states (£100 a turbo) then rebuilding them.

There are many variations of the HX-30, so scrapyard hunting may not give the best results.

GS racing are trading of sorts, it's been hard to get the parts to make the turbo's from what I've heard tho.

I'm running a hx35 turbo on my s14. It's very laggy but between 4500 and 4700 it kicks you hard in the back right to the redline, the hx30 will give a lot quicker spool but may run out of puff up the top end. If your budget can afford it buy a hx35 with a bep( bulls eye power) exhaust housing and cheap manifold. The housing should bring the spool down by 1000rpm.

Thats the only reason why i dont want a hx35 because of the laggggg to much in my eyes but by doing my research they apparently come from gs racing/comp racing with a 16cm2 exhaust housing and think a 12cm2 housing would be better sooted you can even get a 9cm2 housing but think that would run out of puff higher up aswell it's just so confusing but know their good turbos reading by who use them

some people get full boost in by 3200-3500 and others only get it between 4500-5200 soo there must be a massive difference in the housings

what housing are you using standard 16cm2 or smaller and what spec you running????

Or just spend a bit more and get HX35Super. Has a lot less lag than regular HX35. Maybe even less than HX30...

Almost all turbo shops sell them in Finland. It's very popular turbo over here

    For example KKD Motorsport:

The site is in finnish, but you can always email him in english if you want one
