Out of curiosity how do the smaller ones fair on the SR?LIke the HX30 or similar size to a 2871.I saw before that they trail in power bigtime at high revs or was that just a bad setup?

The hx30 is still a very big turbo, way bigger than a 2871r

Hx30 is 2871 territory alright mark alyward on here is running one good spool and nice punch out of it apparently.
@tetra your thinking of a hx35 I'd say.by the way I didn't get a chance to drop off the decibel meter to stivs yet I'm only back to work today so I might do it next week

Ye it seems I was alright mate, having had a passo in Mark's car at mondello, it's a very nice turbo for the SR even with the low boost they were running on the day, If they're that cheap I might get one myself

and no bother on the DB meter, whenever you can

i have a hx40w in the black hole, they come with t3 and t4 mine is a t3, the t4 would be too laggy the t3 hits full boost at 3800 on a 2.5L,

and if the vacuum pipe to the waste gate splits and it hits 2.04bar of boost the standard rods in a rb25 tend to snap

    holset hx40 turbo @ 2.06bar = epic fail

Will price one up in the morning

Just a side note, if anybody here had a rotary engine that they were thinking of upgrading, I have a Microtech ECU here that's in need of sending back to Microtech for repair that would suit any potential Rotary upgrade's

Is there a Holset equivalent of a gt28r?

Something that you might fit two of onto an Rb26 for mid 500's??

Without knowing exactly what size Hx30 turbo your looking for I priced a randomly selected externally gated HX30 and it came in at €480 + the vodka and tonic(I might get a furthur small discount on that as well), it has the Holset part no. 3592110, that's for a brand new warrantied turbo. If you want to do a bit of research into exactly which Holset turbo model would suit your needs I'll get a more accurate price

BTW I can get all makes of turbos, Garrett, KKK, Borg Warner(these are the ones to watch imo as they're bringing out some very interesting models), Schwitzer etc.

Spot on Dave, very interesting price, even with the cost of external gate and other custom bits there's still a saving to be had versus say a gt28r or 2871r, very interesting indeed.

TBH I'll have to do some research on model numbers, also interesting to hear about your access to all the other brands

I know Porsche have used KKK turbo's on their Turbo models for years, Decisions, Decisions.
