    All LM'ers please read

This has been publised over in France and has been verified by a very reliable source ......

    1. any excess speed more than 30mph over the prevailing limit will incur a fine of 3,750 euros and the car/bike impounded. see 3.

    2. the offence has now been uprated to a serious crime, and punishable with up to five years in prison

    3. the vehicle will be confiscated and sold for state funds

    4. Any use of a mobile phone will incur a fine of 135 euros on the spot

    5. Motorcyclists must from hereon wear a high viz jacket at all times

    6. The alcohol limit has remained at 0.5 grammes, not reduced to 0.2 as thought

7.The request to reduce the maximum speed limit in town to 20mph has not been applied

The guy who supplied the info spoke to the Gendarme and they are being told to stick to the rules, and I know they do , so be careful over there folks.

I ride a motorcycle, so does that mean I need to wear a hi viz for the rest of my life? oh noes!

thanks for the info chief. luckily i'm not responsible for anything this year and being in an RV, we'll be lucky to do 30mph, let alone get to 30mph over the posted limit!

Your absolutley right arry, but it is so easy to open up on the nice straight french roads as I'm sure we all do on nice quite UK roads. You will soon be into wallet empting, car disappearing, bottom twitching times

Realisticly though, who is going to drive the whole way there at 110mph...

I'm sure the odd burst of messing about won't matter too much, if you did it in this country you'd be facing a lost license for those speeds anyway. Just don't get caught!

Lots of folk get over to Europe and gun it. Quite a few years ago it was a real blast to LM with not much chance of being stopped, but recently they have clamped down.

I totally agree it's wrong to drive any different over there than in the UK, but it happens and the Gendarme are very wise in knowing the places where it is easy to have the 'odd burst'.

Not trying to preach so don't take it like I am, just a gentle warning.

Fair play, I've only been the once and that was last year. I'll be driving the SX down there this year so i'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled

I can't say I blame the Gendarme to be honest. There was a guy who put his Cerbera into a barrier last year and was being cut out when we passed, the people looked ok in that one but I can easily see how things would get out of hand and much worse could happen.

Been talking about this with Jamie and I am taking off my supercharger belt for the way down to avoid the temptation to race exotica. Sucking up a £3k fine would not be a nice start or end to what should be a great weekend away.

My mate is going over on his bike and cant find anything to verify the hi-vis requirements you mention Skid, have you found this info listed anywhere else online?

Wouldn't bother doing that just be sensible and enjoy the drive down and make sure you take the old N138 from Rouen.
