Thanks for the heads up.
Dr Doom here again
Le Mans motoring clamp down
A quick word of warning for those members on there way to Le Mans this year.
Currently the French Authorities are going all out to clamp down on motoring offences.
Figures published on Pistonheads from last weekends Moto GP at Le Mans show that large events are a major target for the Authorities.
"9,083 alcotests (79 positive, but here it isn't black and white; if you are just over it is 2 points.)
21 positive drug tests
1,835 speeding fines
66 licences taken away on the spot."
The Police set up road blocks and were breathalizing 50 at a time.
I can only imagine that they will hit the 24hr just as hard.
Thanks Skid, I wont' be drinking on the last night just to be sure I'm not over the limit
Bloody hell, looks like I wont ever be driving to Le man then
I Think Jules is more concerned about the alcohol tests...
New one for you to discuss ......
ACO banning bottles on infield campsites
By the looks of it the ACO are cracking down on bottles on the infiled so don't stock up on stubbies!!!
How the fcuk are they going to enforce that with 150,000 Brits down there??

Ok so its a glass ban
Karting Nord isnt inside the circuit though!???Current situation is this:
There is no ban on alcohol, but there is a ban on taking glass into the circuit. Houx and some other campsites are within the circuit. Cars are being searched at Houx entrance and not allowed in with glass containers. Consequently local supermarkets have run out of Long John whisky - the only one available in plastic bottles.
I can't believe that the situation will continue all week, but that's how it is this evening. All my stuff that was in glass is being decanted into plastic.
The above does not apply to Camping Bleu, Beausejour, Expo and any others outside the circuit limits.

ACO banning bottles on infield campsites
Update from another source....
OK. I have just had word from the Travel Destinations guys on the ground at Le Mans.
Apparently the mayor of Le Mans did try to pass a blanket ban on all alcohol at the circuit this morning (bringing it in to line with their football grounds etc.)
However this has been overturned on appeal by the ACO.
Alcohol will now be allowed on all campsites and can be consumed on all campsites.
However, alcohol should not be consumed in public areas such as grandstands.
How this is going to be implemented is another matter. Maybe it won't be.
But our people on the ground are reporting that there is no problem with bringing alcohol (bottles or otherwise) in to the campsite.
Hope this helps everyone.
Don't forget you need a high-vis vest in the car (in the cabin, not the boot) and if you're pulled then put it on before you get out. Not having one in the car is a €90 on the spot fine.
