So can we not take ANY glass bottles in at all?
I've got a bottle of Gaviscon which is for a medical condition so there's no way they are taking that from me.

From what I am hearing it seems mainly to be the beer bottles that are targetted. However it is just the start of race week how this will end up when the hordes arrive on Thursday and Friday who knows. I can see cases being hoisted over and under fences.
While there are reports of cars being searched I am sure many hiding places can still be found for a few bottles of spirits. If you check the back of your race ticket it does say no glass bottles allowed within the circuit.
Seems that it was thought to be fun, bottle throwing at the police during the 24hr bike race. Hence the clamp down.
Yeah wev got a load of cans of strongbow so are going to put them on show then hide the bottles within. If not, pop to shops and buy some bottles of water and decant.
ok so it turned out this was complete BS lol. a group os guys near us had about 25 crates of those kronenbourgs that were on offer, they were just stacked up iun their camp lol.
never mind whiskey, daz had 3 bottles of rose stached in our car lol
arry did i meet you at thursday night practise? i know i met ken, someone who was like s13ben or something, but ive forgotten the others. i was in a bit of a state, was doing ok til my friend fed me bloody gin. Gin and red bull does not taste good!!

We had a pile of that lager, But we was off site camping anyway.
I ended up carrying a 1 litre water bottle with Four Roses Bourbon & Coke. Bloody lovely.
Wish I'd read about the speeding penalty's before hand too, Would have defo slowed up.
We stuck to the (Still long and straight ) Back roads. Didn't touch the motorways at all.
Speed camera locations are pretty well sign posted and the only ol' bill we saw all weekend was at the MMArena entrance roundabout.
Never really stayed in france and reading all that , not sure if i ever will
Erm .......... we got through about 60 crates all told I think, at least 5 of those went into the circuit and there was no problems.
Word on the street was the ban was because the bikers at the LM MotoGP had a bit of a bottle fight with Jacques Law - certainly the back side of the Grandstands had loads of little bits of glass around.

MotoGP has had an alcohol ban for a few years now, because of previous trouble, but it doesn't stop them having a bottle fight with each other and the law!!
The 24 had a toned down ban, mainly bottles, and at the start of the week security were stopping people getting into the campsites with crates of beer bottles, but like all things French they eventually gave up and no more was done.
You will find that the local gov will issue bulletins just before big events to get a point across but you never quite know how they will see it through. Stopping the Indy-Arnage Friday meet is a good example of how they make a rule because of some small minority intent on being idiots and actually carrying it through. At the time it was going to be a one or two year stoppage but looks like the road closure will be a permanent feature now.
