    S14 lumpy idle, cam angle sensor

    Hi guys this has been doing my head in for a while now
    The problem is my s14 idles really lumpy to the point where it allmost stalls if the cam angle sensor is not adjusted to max ive changed afm coil packs plugs knock sensor I'm in my garage now under the car looking for problems and I'm stumped I do have aftermarket cams installed

    Any help would be great

    If its been like it since the cams were installed, then something wasnt dialled in correctly-either cams or cas.

    Do you have vernier cam pulleys? the exhaust sprocket could've slipped.

    You really need the strobe the timing at tickover to see if its out, it should be roughly 10btdc iirc.

    i always thought the timing supposed to be 15 deg btdc?

    Yeah probably, just Google the nissan standard timing setting, I'm just looking at some of my ECU datalogs and it's running at 10 deg. But Mine's fully mapped from scratch!

    What i mean is that if somethings wildly wrong with ignition timing (enough to make it run lumpy enough to stall) it'll be way out, like 20, 30 degrees even!

    Are you having to retard or advance the CAS? (clockwise=retard, anti-clockwise=advance)

    Sounds to me like the cas hasn't been installed correctly.

    Spec of car would help also

    has anyone got a fitting diagram for the cas struggling to find it

    i know it has something to do with two dots and a notch
