Works begun on the car. SR box is removed (third one!!!)
Starter motor has been off and threads drilled out and refitted.
Clutch damper loop removed ready for new braided clutch line on order from GarageSR.
today my mate cut 40mm out the striker rod and welded it back together. I'll just move the mounting point on the shifter bracket forward too and it should sit much closer to the stock position

It's fine fortunately as it's all centre line work. Wouldn't fancy working in the wheel arches in there. Put some hours into the car this weekend.
Firstly got the adaptor plate fitted. Had to fettle it a little to clear my turbo elbow. Must be the slightly larger size of the tomei expreme. Then had the joy of bolting the starter motor to it. Got there in the end though!
Also gave the Z32 box a lick of paint
Whilst the drivetrain is off I'm going to clean up the chassis as much as I can. So started by ripping all the old fuel lines off and the rear brake line which will both be replaced with braided lines. Lots of it came out!
Once that was done I could start attacking the under side with a knotted wire wheel in my grinder. This is hateful work but will make a good base for my POR15 products. I've found quite a big patch of rot infront of the passenger wheel arch which will have to be plated at a later time due to access annoyingly... apart from that though it's coming up well.
This will be my weekends for the next month I should imagine!

Further works done on the car.
All surface rust removed from the central chassis and cleaned.
I'm following the POR15 process so used their cleaner degreaser and then their metal prep which leaves a zinc layer. Before applying their rust preventer coating. This stuff has dried so rock hard its crazy.
All exposes metal areas have been covered with that, which was most of it by the time I'd chased all the rust out!
Next up is a PU seam sealer for all the joints and then a final coating of POR15's black top coat for the whole underside which I should get done this weekend. I'm enjoying the end results but not the process!
Also finished relocating the shifter position forward 40mm. This should now mean it'll fit through the standard shifter hole which is a bonus. And alleviate the shifter to trim fouling issue I've read about.
Getting there now!

cleaning up well under there, nice work.
Rubbed the shiny surface off of the POR15 rust preventer to key it up for the POR15 top coat.
Then went about seam sealing the lot with a PU sealant (tiger seal)
Feel like I've sealed up about 8 miles of seams.
Ready for top coat over the weekend.

Looking good Sean. How are you getting on with the Por products? Was the seam sealer as fun as it looks? I ended using the brush on seam sealer for the front arches on mine. Horrible stuff if you get it on your skin.

Getting on with them great it's a nice methodical process. When I've used a couple of their things in the past even without the correct prep it's still on the car now rock solid. It's crazy how hard this stuff dries and I get the impression with the prep I've done it'll be a coating for life.
It wasn't too bad seam sealing to be honest did the lot in 2 hours. I am covered in it too though...

Yea in my garage. Got it jacked up fairly high and got one of those mechanics creepers so easy to just slide around under it. Not too bad really.
