With the coil over and ARB removed I still couldn’t move my hub assembly up and down by hand with the polybushes but now I can as the arms aren’t binding solid against the face of the polybush. There’s now a gap between the arm and the hub so they have a space to move freely into.

I’ll try and dig the thread out. I noticed how hard it was to fit everything together last year compared to with these bushes. They still have plenty of resistance however.

Interesting. Is it just the knuckle bushes you've replaced? Do your LCA's still run poly bushes?

Yea just the 3 in each hub. My upper arms are bushed hardrace (apex) items and my RLCA’s are japspeed and have spherical bearings.

It was just near impossible for the arms to move in relation to the hub as the faces of the polybushes were sat between the arm and the hub.

There does some to be some stiction with the polybush setup. Was an area I wanted to revisit as I thought it could be resolved/improved with a ruddy good slathering of the correct grease. Maybe that's the case for the LCA's but it looks like the knuckles need the rubber items in order to function correctly. There's just no give with the flanged poly bushes.

Research suggests you need to make sure the inner metal sleeves have the freedom to rotate inside the poly bushes (cheap poly bushes being the worst for this). Some have even reemed out the bushes to relieve the tightness. The rubber bushings, being a moulded one piece, rely on the rubber twisting to allow rotation, they then spring back to their original, unloaded orientation. The flanged poly bushes do restrict movement and increase friction but as long as the interferences aren't too great and they're kept well lubricated they should function similarly. They just require regular greasing, as polyurethane isn't self lubricating, whereas the rubber bushings do not.

It'll be fine, I have polybushed rear geo's and polybushed lower arms and have no binding issues at all. Just ensure you grease them on installation.

Had all the welding done and ran new hard fuel lines.

Got the all the wheel arches in POR15 rust preventative primer and seam sealed.

Got the fuel tank fitted too and fired the car up there were no leaks which I was glad about.

Will be applying the top coat to all the primered areas over next few days. Then can refit my subframe.

Just struggling to make my mind up on what stonechip guard to apply in the wheel arches.

I was really impressed with the difference they made combined with the one piece prop. Definite increase in initial response

    200SX S14a Project

    Good progress made.

Built the rear coil overs back up

Rear end is all back together now.

Fitted a fantastic, relatively new japspeed part which is this adjustable decat. Has finally solved all my fitment issues of my cobbled together exhaust setup.

Fitted my hilarious looking spare wheels and rolled it out the garage.

Will be sorting out the inside rear of the car where I can get to the back of the welds that have been done.

    Loving making every part immaculate!
