what did he use to underseal it as a matter of interest?
what did he use to underseal it as a matter of interest?
according to his ad he uses rust primer and 2 coats of schuz underseal
Yes as James said:
"Cleaning the under underside of your car thoroughly, treatment of surface rust with rust converter, painting of rust treated areas with rust stopping primer, areas with damaged seam sealer re-coated and finally two coats of Schutz underseal."
He used black Schutz but he said that he can provide body colours Schutz for area that are visible if needed. Done a nice job, even sprayed the sills under the side skirts.

excellent.my underside is in a right state.did the back already myslef but will be nice to have the rest of it finished properly.just hope he doenst charge extra when he sees the amoutn of work
do you really not need a coat or 2 of acid etch before schutz? i spent 4 times the figures been quoted at a difference body shop to this one mind... and the rust still came back.. no etch was applied the rust came straight through the schutz
well just handed my motor in.the owner shane seems dead on and with the cars he has in the garage i think its in good hands.i'll throw up pics when i get it back
i want to get this done sounds like a bargin price.
So, is the work as good as expected?
i dont know.when he got it on a lift and did some poking there was a horror story waiting.lookin at lots of welding and both sill rails need replacing mark is happy with his though and bein honest i was expecting it.
Picked mine up today. I needed the front of both sills completely rebuilt from scratch, three rusty holes in the floorpan repaired and a corner section of the rear floor rebuilt. While he was at it he straightened my dented chassis rail at no extra cost.
The underseal looks a top job too, he's managed to get in and around all the underneath parts so I can't see any floorpan or arch area not covered, all the exposed brackets and arms are also sealed.
I'll be going back with the wifes Rover Mini for sure.
sounds like you got the same shock i did UK model?
No this is on my r32 gtr, I'd already had a poke about so I knew about the sills and two holes, the third hole and the corner were a lovely surprise though yeah
To his credit, he took it last Saturday and said it would take a week, even with the extra bit of work and all the other cars being done he had it read bang on time.
Saw your car there btw, looks great (from the top anyway )
ya i like it til i get it on a lift and then i cry so that was your gtr.there were 3 guys workin on it when i dropped mine up.its nice that he does one car fully and moves on rather than bits here and there.
ya.he gave me a ceiling price for the work (scary but fiar) but it'll be a week or two before its finished.reassuring to know its done properly and not a quick fix a paint over job
ya thats the plan.prefer to know about it and have it fixed than flinstone it down the road in a few weeks :-)
have mine book in for next week for underseal and sort out some rust coming thru the front arches into the engine bay.. all because of not having front arches under liners..
also gonna go for the extra option of treating inside the chasis rail..
with 5 years gaurantee and yearly check ups..
it really is a good deal and he seems to do a decent job of it.no bodgery
