Are you sick of manifold and turbo studs/nuts coming loose?

I may have the answer. Maybe some of you guys of heard of them.

Anyway a friend of mine works as an engineer and I told him a while back after the crail drift day about how by the end of the day my turbo was held on with 1 stud and drove back to Aberdeen like that and ****ed my gasket that was 2 weeks old lol. The nuts were locking nuts that I had on with some sort of washer tack welded on the top of them.

Anyway I was at his work at the weekend and he said "I have something to show you".
So he pulls out a clear bag with some washers in it and said this could be your answer and he explained to me how they work and showed me a demonstration bottle opener that had a thread on the end of it with this washers on and a wingnut. I tightened lightly with my fingers and holy crap it really tightened taking it off. I mean I struggled lol. Then he said tighten it more this time, so I did and I was lucky to get it back off and that was just tightening it with my fingers lol.

So anyway next time my gaskets need changed I'm gonna run these washers on the manifold to head, manifold to turbo, turbo to elbow and elbow to downpipe. Will see how it goes till then though ha ha.

    Here's a demonstration video

They also have a website here

I can confirm the above, I've had a set of these on for about a year and they haven't budged.

Good, informative video that. I never realised for example that it was good practice to lubricate bolts and you get a higher holding force for doing it.

Might be getting some of these.

I think it depends on torques lised, and whether they are 'dry' torques or 'wet' ones - if you lubricate a bolt when doing it up and the torque spec for it is for 'dry', you can end up massively over torquing with a torque wrench

they are ok, but won't do miracles. Nordlocks have been used in Finland for some time now and if you don't brace the manifold properly and have a flexi section on your exhaust, the nuts can come loose...

Maybe in some cases it can come loose but judging by what I've seen they must still be better.

They certainly are good. But the stock locking plates are still better

turbo nuts coming loose have always been a bain of my s body ownership, only until i came across copper locking nuts.
ever since fitting copper nuts, i have never came across any coming loose but im always up for giving new products a try so i may get some of these to see how they perform.

"are you sick of turbo and manifold studs coming loose"

No. Because they don't come loose when you fit them properly and use a flexi in the exhaust and good condition engine mounts.

if you use the proper Nissan locking plates, its physically impossible for the nuts to turn.
