How long for HPI to show cleared debt

As the title suggests really. I'm looking to purchase a car but found out it had finance still owing, I informed the seller I will not buy it unless the finance has been cleared. He let me know today that its been paid off and will get confimation by fax or email within the next 24 hours to show they have no further interest in the car. Does anyone know how long it would take to show up on a HPI check as i'd rather see it cleared on there than be shown a piece of paper the seller could have typed up himself?

Depends how quickly the finance co tell either Experian or HPI. They both share the data between themselves over night. So you could be looking at a few days. Ring up HPI or Experian and ask them
