Cat D will lose 25%, Cat C is less desirable again and borderline repairable. That is a fair bit of damage on your car.
    2400.
Classification is based on the cars value vs repair costs not damage.

    For example

10k car with 8.5k damage will be D

Same car with amended estimate to 8k will be repaired and not recorded.

£600 corsa with a very light scrape £600 repair will be C

Nothing is clear cut with write-offs and the whole process is bollocks. Just repaired a Merc E class with 19k of damage which will go back onto the road and no one is any wiser.

Don't you need to get a new MoT to get a VIC check or is the existing one still valid?

Guy came over from Hungary, bypassed the intercooler, fitted a new one with pipe near the top, took him 10 minutes, charged the battery for 30 minutes and off he drove 1500 miles home

Was a happy day all around
