i love me old fords i've had in the past, sold my mk1 mexico race car last year i'd had it from 1987.
but 35,000 bags of sand!! it'd have to be andy rouse's old car and have £50,000 worth of spares thrown in to tempt me(performance verses cost).something the japs are good at,
take a good idea and make it cheaper for the masses

£35k for a 23 year old Sierra? I'd pay no more than £200 for it tbh.

    Another one.

    500 Built
    56 white ones
    How many remain?

As said supply and demand, And it is far from just being a Sierra

I guess I should have used a smiley to hint at sarcasm

I know RS500s are expensive, as they are rare, iconic motors of times past, and there are enthusiasts (with lots of spare cash) that would be willing to spend that much on a mint example to put in a collection. But I'm not one of them.

Personally I'd prefer an Escort Cosworth, I've never been a fan of the Sierra's styling.

to be honest id probably buy http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...1501?logcode=p

and get another 14a for some weekend fun / drift days.

ill get a bgetter car as soon as ive got my new house, but i have to park on the road at the moment and all the pissed up idiots walk by it at night and when i had the 200 i was sick of looking out the window / jumping outa bed everytime i heard something.

id imagine the person who buys this car will bang it in a collectors garage and look at it forever. nothing wrong with that but i guess it would have to be someone who the car means something too, ive never been a ford fan and the thing that makes these kinda chavvy to me is the amount of normal sieras done up to look like these etc. but i guess thats only as bad as us modding our 200's because we think there skylines

yup - dominated same as the skyline did nothing can win in this world, be crap and youre always be remembered for being crap, be really good and youll be remembered for ruining all the fun

iconic status aside some nut case will pass up thousands of better driving/handling cars just to have a real RS500 for a collection.
just another £34,000 over priced dagenham dustbin with a water pump engine to me tbh

well the engine series (yb/pinto etc) has been massively successful so id say they made a good choice and they won an awful lot with it, the escort cosworth was succesful at rallying, the sierra dominated touring cars, the mk1 + 2 escorts that i 'think' ran a pinto of some guise were extremely succesful.

if its 'just' a water pump then all the other engines must be awful

looking at the sierra and escort side by side in the above - id take the sierra everytime if they were both equally clean (rust etc). but thats just me and why i drive around in shit box ancient nissans claiming theyre amazing in every way

we have all passed up many better cars we could have had for the money we have spent on rusty datsuns

an everyday estate with a big engine thrown in vs a performance car built from the ground up with one thing in mind..........

also worth noting that till the skyline got popular over here and japs cars were getting tuned massively the cosworth engine dominated our modified world as well

    Interesting read

as, though im not a Ford fan

often seeing some of these "cossies" at southend or driving about in essex, i can see why people would pay the money for the above

not sure if anyone has seen this but..

    (copied from DCDs blog)

As I was walking through a quiet residential area of Tokyo the other evening I spotted something very familiar parked inside a dark garage of an apartment building. As I began to make my way closer the low-slung silhouette began to become clearer, but surely it couldn't be what I thought it was? Arriving in front of the shutter my suspicions were confirmed, I was indeed face to face with one of only 200 Ford RS200s ever made. These cars were produced from 1984 to 1986 to meet FIA Group B rally car homologation requirements.

It looks like the RS200 has been parked in this place for a vary long time, accumulating a thick layer of dust.

it was fitted with the rally-style Hella auxiliary lights as used in night stages, while the stock fog lights integrated into the lower section of the bumper seemed to be missing the Hella-logoed covers.

it could of course be a replica, but it was hard to tell looking at it from the front. Although this being Japan, it's probably the real thing! I'd really like to find out the story behind this car, as it sure makes me curious. Would be cool to wash it and take it for a nice test drive on the Izu Skyline!

Its all relative and depends on what floats your boat I would pay 35k for a white RS500 if I had 35k spare, because I love old Ford RS models.

It would also be an investment though, the Ford scene has the ability to hold its value better than most, particularly with regards to such limited models. I had a friend who wanted a mint 3 door,he ended up taking 2 years to find one good enough and had a budget of 20k so many end up cacooned in a dry store somewhwere and only see daylight for shows

Yet I wouldnt pay 20k for the RS4 that donnylad posted, for it to be worth 14k in a years time!!

    350bhp doesn't yield much performance these days, 5.4sec 0-60mph, 163mph top speed.
1486Kg, not too bad by current standards but aero is truly awful 0.38Cd, CdA 0.89m².
Just some info on that, it is just a RS with a Matt Black wrap and the Mountune 350 kit on it.

Get a normal RS and get it Mountuned for easily under 30k.
OK so it isnt the same as having a special Ed but anyone who would pay that money for a modern FOrd must be mental!

It would actually, I have little doubt, be one of the wisest investments in motoring I reckon. £35k 370z will be worth £10k 4-5 years later, £35k Ford RS500 will probably be still worth £20k

I honestly think I'd cry if I saw one in that state. They deserve to be meticulously cared for. Some of my fave ever cars are the old group B monsters.
